Most of the staff we met were very pleasant, but the checkin person was unhelpful. I was unhappy that the hefty “resort fee” had been hidden in fine print, adding significantly to the cost of the room. When I asked why we were being charged such a fee, the check-in clerk’s reply was “we charge everyone” — not a helpful answer. This encounter left a bad impression on me, and while I like to support Colonial Williamsburg, I won’t stay in one of their hotels again.
I also think Expedia should alert customers to such hidden charges before reservations are made.
