Cottrell Farms Vacations from $322

It's been fifteen years since we had been to Williamsburg. We really like it, but Summer is over and the place appears to have been run hard and hung up wet. A true National Treasure that may need an infusion of National interest and money to return it to its former glory.

Our room was not ready until 5pm on check in day which wasn’t ideal but the staff were kind and held our luggage for us. The main lobby area has plenty of seating, a pool table, some other games and a bar. Our room was okay, the bathroom walls were dirty (toothpaste splatters, hairs and chipping paint). Housekeeping never came unless summoned but they were fast to bring more towels. The beds don’t have bottom sheets with elastic and rather are just tucked in flat sheets which were not ideal as they came undone a lot. The safety lock on our door was loose upon arrival and even locked us out once! It must be a recurring issue because maintenance had a special tool to get it too move. The hotel is also undergoing a remodel which was not a huge deal except for the constant jack hammer drilling mid day which made napping on vacation impossible. The area is safe and walkable but there are not many stores around for quick items like water, snacks, etc except for a small 7/11. There is no hotel store area and the vending area on our floor (floor 5) was non-existent - it was just an empty room labeled vending. That made it difficult if you didn’t have a car like us! However, Lyfts were easily accessible in the area arriving fast and fairly priced. Overall, I would stay again if I had a car but be advised there is only valet parking as an option through the hotel.

We stayed in the main house and the accommodations were excellent and staff very friendly. Seems they are just getting established as the liquor license was issued the day of our departure and in house dining was not yet available. Breakfast was top shelf. It is a bit remote and off property activities require a long drive.

Very nice place to stay. We will definitely be back.

I can't say enough about how incredibly wonderful the front desk staff and the manager of the Governor's Green are. We we're only there for two nights
