Family Camp, Jackson River; Fly fishing, Rafting, Kayaking, Hiking, Biking<br>

Cottage on Jackson River sits on four acres bordering the river. Plenty of room for children and dogs to run and play. Great for fly fishing brown and rainbow trout. Kayaks and canoes as well as rubber floats are used often on the river. All are available for renters use . Three B/R's. Two baths. First B/R has a queen bed. Upstairs B/R has four twins thus sleeping four. A leather sleeper/sofa in front of the fireplace has a queen mattress and sleeps two. The third bedroom is the master bedroom and has a king bed , and a queen sleeper as well as it's separate bathroom. The laundry room is off the hallway in the master bedroom. A fire pit is nearby for late nite talks or roasting marsh mellows or hot dogs. Great for kids. Both bathrooms in cottage have shower . Kitchen modern with range, micro, refrig/ice maker, coffee maker and dish washer. Cottage is wifi with 55 inch TV in living room and 40 inch TV in upstairs B/R and 42 inch TV in master B/R. All three H/D high speed cable multi channel. Laundry room has washer dryer. Cottage has fireplace with propane and remote control. Screened porch overlooking the river has multiple seating and 6 chair dining glass table. Outdoor Blackstone grill beside screen porch. Two car garage is detached and houses canoes, kayaks and rubber white water raft. The raft hold 6-8 people and is self bailing of water. Canoes, kayaks, white water raft, floats, paddles, and life jackets are all available to guests. There is a variety of sizes of lifejackets including infant, child ,teenager and adult. Great for family floats on the river. Bottom line is the cottage and grounds are fishing group or family group friendly .Floating, canoeing and kayaking are all very popular .The cottage is located north of Covington, Va. and is close to two well known Resorts. The Homestead Resort, located about 20 miles north on The Sam Snead Highway(route # 220 north) has world famous golf courses and features hot springs and is located in Hot Springs. The Greenbriar Resort is 25 Miles west on I-64 West and also has world famous golf . Both resorts have horse back riding, falconry, guided fishing, boating, and hiking as well as tennis and golf. The Greenbriar also has a full Casino . Both Resorts have great shopping on the premisses or in the local area for the ladies to use while the guys fish. The cottage is good any season of the year and all seasons have their particular activities that are special to the time of year. The general area includes multiple ,hiking trails, rivers ,lakes, and State Parks. The Jackson River Trail is directly across the river from the cottage at about mile marker four. You can Google the trail and see the entire trail as it follows the river upstream towards the Gathright Dam. The trail is about 15 miles long has bathroom facilities at several places along the way. Also, Google the Gathright Dam, Douthat State Park and the Jackson River/Kings Grant Property for additonal areas of interest

Great mountain and river getaway
Beautiful rustic location on a mountain river. Everything provided for rafting, kayaking, or fishing—or just relaxing and enjoying the views. Perfect location for motorcycle riding the “Back Roads Discovery Route” with winding country roads and challenging Forest Service trails. Easy parking for our trailers. Fire pit to finish off the evenings with a campfire by the river. Great hosts with easy self check in.

Relaxation at it’s best
Two families enjoyed this lovely home on the river. With 4 teenagers and 4 adults, we enjoyed some quality, family and friend time along with relaxing moments. Extensive river-front property lent itself to unlimited fishing, a BB gun shooting range, an exciting teenage egg hunt, and moments by a campfire despite the rainy forecast. My husband and son went out and bought waiters to thoroughly enjoy river fishing. Sadly, it was too cold to enjoy the various watercraft that the property had. The home itself had a lovely sunroom and screened in porch, where you could find any one at anytime. We explored the area and my friend and I completed several hikes. The host was very helpful with suggestions prior to arrival and very prompt with responses during our trip.

Comfy Cottage by the River
Our group consists of 3 couples who have been friends for 37 years. We met up at this comfy cottage for a long weekend together. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean, cute, and quiet. We shared a lot of time sitting together around the big kitchen table eating and playing games. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the meals we brought. The beds were good, and everyone had enough space. The cottage is located a good distance from the road and looks out directly onto the river. We enjoyed exploring the property and having a bonfire by the river. One of our group even took a polar plunge in the river! We ventured away from the cottage to check out Island Ford Cave, Humpback Bridge, Swinging Bridge, Warm Spring Pools, Homestead Resort, some establishments in Covington, and the great walking trail that runs along the Jefferson River. The cottage is in a somewhat remote location, but is very close to lots of fun things to do. We had a great time! Mike, the owner, is very helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area, and he responds to text messages quickly. I highly recommend this property!

Mike has been great to work with. We rented his cabin for an extended stay. It’s easy to tell that the home is loved by his family. The accommodations are clean, spacious and comfortable. The scenery is beautiful. Would highly recommend for a VA getaway! Just several miles from the Homestead. Thanks for sharing your 2nd home with us!

Beautiful getaway in the heart of Allegheny County
Mike’s cabin is a beautiful oasis in the Allegheny mountains. If you’re a fisherman, you’ll love the direct access to the Jackson River right in the backyard. Mike also includes thoughtful extras like kayaks (which we used on nearby, Lake Moomaw) and a fully equipped kitchen. He is incredibly easy to get in touch with and responds to texts immediately. We would love to stay again!

Beautiful!!!!
We had a great time at the house! The house was clean and cozy. Perfect for our family and dog! The river is just down the little hill from the house. We enjoyed the fire by the river at night and fishing during the day. Lake Moomaw and Falling Springs are beautiful!!! The swinging bridge is pretty cool, too! Not for the faint of heart though! We will definitely be booking there again!

Best cabin amenities I've ever seen
This cabin is truly amazing. There is a ton of river front access and it is all very well maintained. The property is huge! There were enough kayaks for me and my three friends to use without having to bring our own, so that made it even more relaxing. Inside there is everything you could ever need or ask for. I'm used to having to resupply the toilet paper and paper towels at cabins but that was never an issue. There was ample everything, which is really very rare! We fished for trout and kayaked on the Jackson River, kayaked Lake Mumaw, saw the Humpback Bridge, biked the Jackson River Scenic Trail (only a mile away), and visited Falling Springs waterfall (only 10 minutes away and absolutely stunning). I would definitely recommend this cabin for adults and children! DJ We visited 08/2022

Every detail was taken care of, felt just like home
This is the first place we have stayed that felt like the owners had taken care of every detail, even a map to the river for kayaking. The kitchen felt like Grandma herself had stocked it to make supper that very night. As soon as we walked in, we could sense how loved this place was. Very clean but homey.

Nicely secluded, lots of riverfront area. Three year old needed help getting into the river, but easy for 10, 11 and 14 year olds. Kids kayaked all day, getting in and out. Papa sat in his chair, in the river! We visited Lake Moomaw one day. We had lots of fun and made great memories!

Beautiful and Peaceful
We had a wonderful time on our trip which included our family of 3 generations. Lucked out with great weather and spent most of the time enjoying the river with the kids. Loved having coffee on the porch in the mornings. Mike was super communicative, and even left a hand written note upon arrival. The location was great- a very peaceful setting enough to disconnect for a while, and yet close enough to grocery stores in case we forgot something - although you don't need it as the cabin is so well stocked. Wonderful memories and hope to visit again in the future!

We had a wonderful time at Jackson River! The property is absolutely spectacular. The views of the river are breathtaking. Such a beautiful house to relax and get away. We were two families with children and were comfortable in the house. The house was well stocked and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The screened in porch is lovely. We enjoyed all the outdoor space, swings, hammocks, fire pit, outdoor picnic tables. Nothing is missing to make this a perfect stay! Mike was a fantastic host.

Spacious and Cozy
This home was perfect for our vacation with our daughter and her husband. On the sunny days we played on the river with the float and kayaks, and on a rainy day, we gathered at the large kitchen table for games. The beds, chairs, and sofa were extra comfy and the house was immaculate. There is a porch that is screened and is perfect for morning coffee and listening to the sounds of the river. There are many special touches that go above and beyond a typical VRBO rental inside and outside. My communication with Mike was excellent, and the home feels very loved by this family.

What’s great houseand location
Six of us stayed at Mike’s house for four days of fly fishing on the Jackson River and other local streams. We truly enjoyed our stay and loved the location of the house right along the river with a great hole right out in front, where one of our guys hooked his first trout ever ( unfortunately, he lost it).
