Mill house offers comfort, and charm

Green Shutters Cottage, 495 Habersham Mill Rd., Demorest, 30535. This 1947 mill house is cozy, charming and offers comfort. Many a guest have remarked that it’s like going to visit grandma. However, the house is fully equipped; a fully equipped kitchen, washer, and dryer Wi-Fi, 25, MG, 32” Sony TV with basic cable. There is a cozy front porch and a larger side porch in which to take in views of the mountains and a breeze. It’s a perfect spot for meals, grilling or just having morning coffee. This is a standalone property with ample space to walk your dog and plenty of parking. This is perfect lodging for parents wanting to visit Piedmont University. Clarkesville is 4 miles away as is a Cornelia Georgia with plenty of antiquing and dining opportunities. Bavarian Helen is a short 20 minute drive. There’s plenty of hiking opportunities close by. In 2024 the front yard will become a cut flower farm.

A walk back in time with wifi and central heat/air
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Green Shutters Cottage. The mountain view out back was lovely. The furnishings were comfortable and quirky. We really liked the outdoor spaces and HoneyPie, my nephew's dog, loved being able to explore while on the provided tether while they visited us for the afternoon and grilled out. I'd definitely recommend this gem and stay again when visiting the area again in the future.

We loved it.
Sweetest little cottage. Extremely convenient area. Ingles and Dunkin like 5 mins away. Lots of food places. The cottage is super peaceful. Beds are comfy too. Brooks makes check in/checkout super easy and is a wonderful host. He didnt mind answering questions. He even ran by and dropped off extra household supplies for us. My son whose 12 loved feeling like he was staying at his nannys house. I recommend to anyone and we will definitely use this rental again. Thanks again Brooks. ☺️

Home away from home
Perfect cottage for us. Its actually a 2/1 home and has sio much charm. The front porch was a perfect spot to relax and watch the sun rise. The Host Brooks was so nice and made himself available to what ever and when ever we needed something. Perfect place to have our grandkids who live close by to visit. We will definitely stay here from now on when we visit our family in this area. Would give 10 stars if that was an option.

We were visiting family for Thanksgiving and needed our own spot to come back to. This place is in a great location near several north Georgia towns. Check-in and checkout process was very easy, and we had great communication with Brooks. This was exactly what we were looking for for this trip. Very reasonably priced, too!

Quaint Location, but Full Of Bugs
Like the title says, the place was fairly clean and cute but old. However, there were bugs all over the place inside of the house, such as grasshoppers, cockroaches, and who knows what else. Would not recommend this place. If you like bugs, go camping.

This was a nice surprise located close to Helen, GA. We stayed here for a girls weekend to attend oktoberfest in Helen. It was located about 25 min away on a beautiful winding road. The property is definitely older but maintained and decorated nicely. The art on the walls were very cool to look at. The laundry and bathroom are combined so be aware of that for planning. The beds slept well. The place is dog friendly and there is a burn pit (firewood and roasting sticks provided). When its nighttime you can see the stars very well! When the sun is setting, it makes the mountain view from the porch beautiful. Brooks was great at communicating. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Quaint little cottage hime
The pictures of the house do not reflect its antiquity and charm. It is like stepping back in time to ene.ter the property and home. From floor to ceiling the structure absolutly antiquaited cute. We felt very confortable there, had a wonderful nights sleep in the private setting with woods behind the house and a lush green setting around us. It was quiet and oeaceful. There is a green lawn front yard with a porch to sit in to greet the birds at sunset. Our host Brooks was very attentive to our questions and needs and I must say, we had an overall beautiful experience.

Green Shutter Cottage, renamed Roach Cottage by myself and my son.
The pictures of this house were VERY misleading. It's very musty, smells like mildew, dust, dog hairs and there were dead roaches in the pantry and live roaches came out in the evening and at night and my son had to kill them because I was freaking out. I was unable to cook any meals for my son, which he was looking forward to....because I couldn't cook in unsanitary conditions, let alone EAT there. I was told a cleaning crew had come that morning. If so, it would have been clean and the pantry wouldn't have had dead roaches in there and it should have smelled clean and disinfected. I did not appreciate the fact that there are no SUFFICIENT window treatments anywhere. All see through, and a big kitchen window with no blinds or curtains. I took lots of pictures of everything for proof. Also, it was a sweltering 78 degrees when the owner let me in when I arrived. The AC unit is decrepit and the only room that really gets cool is the teensy bathroom which felt like a freezer. We could not get the old TV to work, and there is a temperamental DVD player. I had emailed the owner and he said "unfortunately no" when I asked if there was a DVD player. I had not spent any time with my son in a very long time so I was very embarrassed and sad that it turned out the place my husband rented for us was a nasty hovel. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE. The appliances are dirty, the white fridge is absolutely BLACK with dirt and it's sticky as well. Out of room or would continue.

Clean,very accommodating to our needs for the night.Very pleased with being able to bring our dogs RJ and Storm.Nice touches for us and the dogs.Bath towels and wash clothes all laid out for us and bottled water by the each side of the bed.Water bowls in the kitchen for the dogs and a tie out leash and crate outside in the breezeway if we needed it.Great front yard space for the dogs. Great visit with our family and dogs!!!

Brooks, is an excellent host who is well versed in the local community and experienced in local dining recommendations. Cottage is aged, but gracefully appointed with modern conveniences, including internet access and cable television.

Wonderful place to stay, feels like your are mile from everything but your not. Helen is 25 miles away, a stright shot. In the other durection is town, quarter of a mile. Loved this place.
