Your journey begins the moment you step out of your hotel room. Get a taste of local cuisine at the Mindil Beach Sunset Market or sample some of Perth's famous wines in Australia. Immerse yourself in Aboriginal and Maori culture that gives the region its character. Relax in one of New Zealand's famous hot pools before catching a tour of the "Lord of the Rings" filming locations. Excellent rates and specials are available on aerial tours if you book ahead of time.

If you're looking for something special, the South Pacific has a lot to offer. Try out Zorbing, a tumbling downhill ride in an inflatable ball. Strap in to a full body harness and hang hundreds of feet in the air on a SkyWalk. Make your reservations ahead of time to secure your spot and great prices in these one-of-a-kind adventures. Put your feet back on the ground with a walk through one of the region's numerous national parks. It's the only place on Earth you can get up close and personal with a kangroo in its natural habitat.

The South Pacific is also home to some of the world's top diving spots. The Great Barrier Reef boasts thousands of aquatic species. Off the coast of Tasmania, there are more than 70 shipwrecks to find and explore. Back on land, catch a guided tour of the great Australian outback or go spelunking in Waitomo Caves. New Zealand is often cited by spelunkers as having one of the best cave systems for exploring and taking in magnificent sights. Discount rates and package deals make it easy to soak in the sun on a budget.

A paradise of surf and sunset romance awaits in the South Pacific. You'll be swept into the easy-going attitude of the locals in no time. As diverse culturally as it is geographically, you'll never run out of places to explore or things to do in the South Pacific.

"Good place made better if in room with a view"
Stayed in room with view over Collins st. Outside view important helps gauge weather and what to wear. Room very spacious with kitchenette and dining table. Ensuite basin far too small however - water splashes out each time brush teeth or face. rest of bathroom fine. Mattress super comfortable. Artwork in room bland and un imaginative. Room needs a coffee capsule machine.. Sachet instant stuff was disgusting. Likewise coffee at restaurant breakfast needs cofee capsule machine or barista style quality. Fantastic location block away from trams and straight to southern cross station. Reception area lacks pizzaz and concierge location looks disjointed. Overall great value for discounted rate on offer but would expect more value of paid normal room rate. Would stay again at discount rate only.

"nice hostel in the heart of CBD"
My friend recommended me this hostel as the price is right and the place is close to CBD. Weekend noise is a little bit high but week days is fine. The room is clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I travel with my own cutlery so I don't have to pay AUD20 deposit for them. The hostel checkin with iPad system is fast and easy. There is no free wifi but you won't have enough time to explore to best of melbourne anyway. After a full day tour, I rather rest on my bed and relax with the TV on the wall. I would definitely come back to this hostel.

    "Great stay! "
Negatives: The hotel lobby (furniture) especially but the hotel itself definitely needs a interior refurbishment but it isn't nothing that will make you want to never go back. I'm sure the hotel will be making those changes gradually. Secondly, the consistency and standard of dessert should always be exact. We ordered desserts at dinner dining at the Hotel restaurant and the cooks didn't even bother to decorate the chocolate lava cake desserts comparing to yesterdays meal. The pool was the biggest let down in my opinion. It doesn't make sense of why the pool would be outside the hotel at the front entrance. Plus with New Zealand having cold weather all time, an indoor pool would have been ideal. Heartland Hotel definitely fitted our accommodation requirements perfectly and surprisingly. As there was quite a lot of us, we booked a room with 4 queen beds which happened to be 2 separate rooms connected but with a private enclosure. The beds were comfortable, both bathrooms absolutely clean and with free WiFi and TV with a on going disney channel, the kids were absolutely happy. I will say though, it would of been nice to not have that little old room smell when we first walked in the rooms but an open window fixed that with no problem. The Hotel restaurant- I was definitely blown away by the standard and how good the food was. It was even better then some 5 star hotels I've stayed in previously. Plus, if your kids manage to finish with clean plates, that is a good sign!!

    "Great location! "
We had planned to stay just one night, but decided to add another night. The staff was very helpful in making this happen. While we were not able to keep the same room, the staff made sure we had one equally as nice----it was actually bigger than the first one. The staff helped us by giving good suggestions for a grocery store, and for a good restaurant nearby. John even suggested that we NOT walk to the harbor that evening, but wait until the next morning. Perhaps he knew something we didn't!
