Home of the outback and the glorious sights of Middle Earth, the South Pacific is a spectacular destination for the romantic or the explorer. From the piping out sands of Australia to the rolling hills of New Zealand, rich culture and incredible natural sights make the South Pacific a destination to remember.

Your journey begins the moment you step out of your hotel room. Get a taste of local cuisine at the Mindil Beach Sunset Market or sample some of Perth's famous wines in Australia. Immerse yourself in Aboriginal and Maori culture that gives the region its character. Relax in one of New Zealand's famous hot pools before catching a tour of the "Lord of the Rings" filming locations. Excellent rates and specials are available on aerial tours if you book ahead of time.

If you're looking for something special, the South Pacific has a lot to offer. Try out Zorbing, a tumbling downhill ride in an inflatable ball. Strap in to a full body harness and hang hundreds of feet in the air on a SkyWalk. Make your reservations ahead of time to secure your spot and great prices in these one-of-a-kind adventures. Put your feet back on the ground with a walk through one of the region's numerous national parks. It's the only place on Earth you can get up close and personal with a kangroo in its natural habitat.

The South Pacific is also home to some of the world's top diving spots. The Great Barrier Reef boasts thousands of aquatic species. Off the coast of Tasmania, there are more than 70 shipwrecks to find and explore. Back on land, catch a guided tour of the great Australian outback or go spelunking in Waitomo Caves. New Zealand is often cited by spelunkers as having one of the best cave systems for exploring and taking in magnificent sights. Discount rates and package deals make it easy to soak in the sun on a budget.

A paradise of surf and sunset romance awaits in the South Pacific. You'll be swept into the easy-going attitude of the locals in no time. As diverse culturally as it is geographically, you'll never run out of places to explore or things to do in the South Pacific.

Chose this place because of the central location and close proximity to World Square shops, Chinatown, Queen Victoria building and Town Hall station. A short 2 station train ride to Circular Quay makes access to the harbour, opera house, bridge and ferries very simple.

"Lovely hotel, friendly staff and beautiful views"
My husband and I spent 7 days at the Sofitel celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary. The lagoon view bungalow was spacious, clean and well equipped (aside from a fridge that didn't work). Overall this Sofitel hotel does need a spruceup as throughout it looks tired, however I feel this is reflected in reduced accommodation rates. Hotel staff are wonderful and friendly, there is a great breakfast buffet, good entertainment on offer and tour options. The Ecotour was the highlight of our trip! Matira beach is 10mins walk - Stunning! What a beautiful part of the world to visit!! Mauruuru Sofitel for accommodating us on such a memorable trip!

    "Great location & beach"
Great location & beach, rooms are comfortable & clean. Lots to do. Only three issues with the resort. The restaurants are all tired in appearance, the food is pretty basic and a bit repetitive (for anything but the breakfast buffet) and the service is not great. Quite a few of the staff uniforms are stained. Advice to hotel management - focus on service and refresh your f&b.
