Banská Štiavnica - the town that time forgot.

This old mining town in central Slovakia was famous for gold and silver mining, although most mines have now closed. The town relies on tourism, focussed on it's rich history and beautiful surroundings, and has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1993.

The Low Tatras in the foreground, High Tatras in the background and a wide valley in the middle. I definitely was high up to get this view :). I was on Mt. Chopok, which is at 2,024 m (6,640 ft) and is the 3rd highest peak of the Low Tatra Range. It's also inside the Low Tatras National Park. The views were truly breathtaking from there! This is absolutely one of my favorite views. And with the heat outside it's good to remember winter ;).

"Nagenoeg iedere week overnacht ik in hotels en over het algemeen ben ik positief, maar dit hotel was uitzonderlijk teleurstellend, slechte service tegen een belachelijk hoge prijs, 138,- euro per nacht inclusief ontbijt. "הגענו בסביבות השעה 15:00, המלון היה סגור, על הדלת היה פתק: להתקשר לטלפון מקומי במקרה שאין אף אחד. התקשרנו, נאמר לנו לעלות למסעדה - שם מחכה לנו מפתח. עליתי - נאמר לי לחכות - מסתבר להגברת קיבלה טלפון וירדה למטה לחפש אותנו. בסופו של דבר קבלנו חדר. פתח מיזוג בחדר (ללא שליטה מהחדר) טרטר כל הזמן - חשבנו שזה בגלל הרכבל ויפסק כאשר הרכבל יפסיק לעבוד (17:00). אחרי 6 יצאני לטייל (סביבת המלון מאוד מיוחדת ושקיעה אחרי 9) - דלתות יציאה ראשיות לא נפתחו, מצאנו איזו דלת צדדית פתוחה עם גישה החוצה מאוד לא נוחה...
