I loved our stay at Motel San Diego. Carlos was attentive and friendly. We slept comfortably and found the old style accommodation to be charming. It was an especially welcoming place for our dog! Glad we found it!

The property was in the perfect location for activities in the gaslamp area. The staff was friendly and professional. The property was clean and the room was small, but very nice. The description says there is this for breakfast: “Continental breakfast in the lobby Fresh fruit, pastries, cereal bar, bagels, and coffee with dine-in or grab-and-go options”. I was counting on that for our budget but there was no food and the staff was surprised when we asked where to get the food. We put our sign on our door to have the room cleaned, and it never got cleaned. Finally we were awoken at 6:30 a.m. with nonstop, barking from the room next-door to us. One suggestion would be to have at least one floor that is not dog friendly for guests who would like to be able to sleep in.

Gaslamp has plenty of other better hotels. Before you book beware you will be charged $40 a night additionally for “resort fees” mind you this is not a resort. They don’t even offer a hot tub. This hotel is extremely overpriced and overrated. Rooftop service is terrible. Only plus is it is kept up and clean.
