“What a special place! Close to everything but tucked away at the end of a private road. The view is beautiful and it’s a very private and peaceful setting. Our dogs loved it and we really appreciate the gates around the deck for them. And the addition of fall mums around the property was such a nice touch! Chris the host couldn’t have been nicer. Would absolutely stay here again!”

“This was absolutely everything we needed for our vacation. You can really relax and take in all the beautiful nature around you. It really was an island experience and so incredibly peaceful! Jack & Jennifer were great hosts. I can't recommend this place enough! ”

“We have stayed at the Hobby Horse several times and with each visit, it feels more like our "second home." The cottage is always clean, comfortable and has everything you need in the kitchen. The town of Surry provides a perfect base camp location to enjoy surroundings from Acadia National Park, Ellsworth, Blue Hill and Belfast. This year we attended the Blue Hill Fair and it did not disappoint. A few consistent highlights for us include: Perry's Lobster Company, Pugnuts, Fogtown Brewery...

“We had a great time in this off grid cabin. It was a beautiful location in a really lovely wood cottage. Our favorite part was just relaxing on the screened in porch listening to the loons in the evening. It got a little hot during our stay, so the limited electricity for a fan was a bummer but not a dealbreaker by any means. Would definitely recommend. ”

“Beautiful property. Only issue we had was the bedrooms are all upstairs and my father is disabled. This is a wonderful location if your crew can handle stairs. We haven’t yet received the refundable deposit. ”

“This cabin was a lovely find! It’s tucked away behind a few trees, and yet right on the lake. There’s a beach a few steps away, and with kayaks and other water gear for use as well. It’s quite welcoming and easily accommodates a large group. The hosts are communicative and respond timely to questions. We love the area and would absolutely stay at the cabin again.”

“This was a great place to stay on a secluded lake. Highly recommend staying here if you like seclusion and peace and quiet. The kids loved the kayaks, paddle board and canoe. The second loft is not made for adults. ”

“We had an amazing time here! The cabin is cute and very well appointed. Quiet, peaceful area. Good kitchen for cooking, grill, fire pit. The bed was comfortable. Very nice. Guests should be aware that swimming is a bit difficult in this location, and you maybe have to drive to one of the many nice local places to go swimming. Be sure to bring your own canoes and kayaks too! We enjoyed our stay and appreciate the hospitality.”
