Granite Cove is a beautiful waterfront cottage newly built on the shores of Hopkins Pond, in Clifton, Maine. With 200' of shoreline frontage, this outstanding scenic spot provides a private retreat for a family vacation or a fun-filled friends' get-away. Whether you are swimming in its crystal clear water, birdwatching for eagles and loons from its granite shores, fishing for brook trout or salmon from your canoe or kayaking amongst the picturesque islands of Hopkins Pond, your days will be filled with the natural delights of this scenic gem. Nearby you will find excellent technical rock climbing faces and hiking trails at Eagle’s Bluff and Park’s Pond Bluff, and river kayaking/canoeing. Just 30 miles from Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island and minutes from the West Branch of the Union River, our Maine cottage is ideally situated and fully equipped to ensure that you have a pleasurable getaway in a beautiful setting. The large fully screened16'x20' timber frame porch with its wicker porch swing, table for 12, and comfy furniture beautifully complements the cottage's modern amenities and guarantees that you’ll enjoy the “outdoors” no matter what the weather brings. This brand new cottage is equipped with a full modern kitchen, a laundry room, two full bathrooms, one half bath, three bedrooms with queen beds and one large bunk room with 2 sets of bunk beds and one double futon. The first floor master bedroom has a private full bathroom and full closet. The large great room with dining table and seating area showcases a panoramic view of the lake and the hills beyond.
Twenty miles to the west, the city of Bangor, home of best-selling writer Stephen King, offers many restaurants, Bangor International Airport, grocery stores, Hollywood Casino and Darling's Waterfront Pavilion for live concerts all summer.
The city of Ellsworth, just 20 miles south of Hopkins Pond, is the gateway to Downeast Maine and Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. In Ellsworth you will find full service grocery stores, restaurants, brew pubs as well as specialty shops like Rooster Brothers, and the Rock Shop. And for the full Maine shopping adventure don't miss Marden's and Reny’s. Granite Cove is a No Smoking/No Pets Low allergen property.
The awesome beauty and scenic tranquility of Hopkins Pond will take your breath away, creating a memorable experience that may have you planning your return visit even before you leave. Giant granite boulders covered in soft mosses and leathery lichen are strewn across Granite Cove's spacious 5 acre site. Bright blue flag irises bloom along the water's edge in June while lacy ferns, painted trilliums, pink and white lady slippers, wild blueberry bushes and a host of other native plants arrive over the summer season creating a delightful native botanical garden. So pack up a simple picnic, jump in a kayak or canoe and explore the rich, diverse shoreline, observe from a distance the nesting terns, the eagle fledgling and busy loons then stop on Blueberry Island for a quick swim and lunch before returning to Granite Cove.
After spending the afternoon reading, lounging at water’s edge, or fishing you may want to make a quick trip to Jones’s Lobster Pound in Holden for fresh lobsters . You will have everything you need at Granite Cove to cook and enjoy your delicious lobster dinner, including a propane lobster cooker.
We have provided an outdoor gas grill for cooking and a fire pit for gathering around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, sharing stories or gazing at the night sky. In fact, our vacation rental cottage offers everything you will need for your family and friends to escape for a great adventure. So, whether you are seeking summer’s warm days on the water, spectacular leaf peeping in the fall, or snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter Granite Cove at Hopkins Pond provides a wonderland of opportunities to enjoy your escape to Maine’s vacationland.

Home way from home.
An oasis from the hustle of life. The house was amazing, and beautiful. Very spacious to allow everyone to have their own space. It was a little to cold for the adults swim and kayak, but we enjoyed watching the kiddos in the pond. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect house in a perfect setting.
You couldn’t ask for more. Anita and Pat have built and furnished this home beautifully. There are kayaks aplenty to explore the pond and visit the loons who occasionally break the otherwise peaceful setting with their eerie calls and warbling. Best of all, Anita and Pat are the perfect hosts, ever responsive to any and all needs. The big screened in porch is perfect for meals. Grilling was easy and firewood available for the kids and their s’mores. As my granddaughter said about Barbie, it rates a 13 out of 10.

Great stay in beautiful location!
We had a great time at Granite Cove! Kayaking, fishing, and swimming in the pond were enjoyed by all as well as relaxing on the screen porch! Bar Harbor and Acadia are about an hour drive, but well worth it! Our multi-generation family vacation was fully accommodated at this location! Anita was easily accessible and a wonderful host! This is a prime vacation spot for a peaceful getaway!

Beautiful Lakefront VRBO
This home had so much more than we expected! The location is private, quiet and peaceful. Fully equipped kitchen plus lots of unexpected niceties such as - bug spray, clothes line to dry bathing suits and towels, flashlights, fire wood and kindling - just everything you could need. I would definitely recommend this home. I can’t wait to return!

Maine fall paradise
We found this property to be incredibly well cared for and thoughtfully designed. The area around the camp is beautifully landscaped and provides a tranquil place to relax and enjoy nature. We enjoyed several nearby hikes and paddling on the pond. Eagle Bluff and Peaked Mountain trails provided amazing fall foliage views from the top of the impressive cliffs. Thanks to our attentive hosts for sharing their beautiful cottage in this special part of Maine. We look forward visiting again soon.

Peaceful, adventuresome getaway
The house was awesome with a wonderful view of the surrounding woods, down the path and to the pond. We kayaked the first weekend, but had some bad weather most of the week. Looking at weather radar, we went to the coast, including Northeast Harbor for the gardens and Southwest Harbor for lobsters. We traveled to Lubec for a whale watching tour with about 15 people. Eagles soared over our heads, seals basked on the islands, we saw East Quoddy Head lighthouse from the water, then visited West Quoddy Head by land. The drive was long, but fun. We found blueberry pies and lobster daily. The weather meant we ate out more than in, but that suited us. Two of our party hiked local trails, and a steep hike from Schoodic Head near Winter Harbor. We enjoyed Fogtown brewery in Ellsworth under a tent sheltered from the rain. In the home, we sat out on the screen porch, walked to the lake to view the sunrise and had fun reconnecting with each other. Our hosts recommendations were welcomed and used for our daily forays into town. We certainly would have spent more time on kayaks and in the water. We were unable to take advantage of the fire pit and lobster pot because of the weather. Next time…

Great Vacation!
The house is lovely, the hosts are lovely. We spent five wonderful weeks at Granite Cove. Enjoyed kayaking, swimming, eating meals on the spacious screened-in porch and most especially being visited and serenaded by the local loons! Anita and Pat were always available and helpful. We are returning!
