"Rough road to get there. Dinner was not great, very poor value for price. Lovely ambiance. Beautiful courtyard. Loved dinner by the fireplace. Kind server. Do not recommend the eggplant! Bathroom had loose ceiling tiles that seemed open to outside. Very humid smelling room. Nice big room but disappointing fire 180/night."

"This is a beautiful property in the countryside. The staff are excellent, the food was excellent and the location is beautiful. The lodge is so cozy and we spent hours sitting by the fire. This is truly an amazing place. Getting there: the road from Machachi begins with several kilometers of very rough cobblestone, then there is a paved section for a few kilometers, and then a dirt road for the remainder to your destination. If you decide to go on the extra 4km to Cotopaxi National Park, the road is mostly dirt. Inside the park it’s a washboard dirt road. Bottom line: it’s worth the trip, but get an SUV or truck with all wheel drive and higher clearance and drive slow. We had a Renault Stepway (small AWD crossover) and we were fine. "

"We booked a private room for 1 night, weeks in advance. We arrived at 1700 to an empty front desk and other travelers also waiting to check-in. We were told that rooms needed to be cleaned and we could wait. This wasn’t a big deal as we sat in the dining area. The employee didn’t offer us wifi or water, but made an espresso drink for another guest of the property. After an hour of waiting, we were offered to go to our room: a shared room with the other travelers ahead of us in line. This was confusing as both our groups booked private rooms. We communicate that we booked a private room and the employee said that one was going to be ready. In the meantime, he was trying to move another couple who booked a private room (and stayed the previous night) into the makeshift dorm room. We decided to cut our losses, the employee was kind enough to refund us and drive us to another property as it was night time by now."
