I booked through Expedia for 3 nights. We own property near Ellijay so we come often and normally stay at another hotel in the area however we decided to try Ellijay Inn this time because it’s in the heart of downtown. We finished what we needed to do in 2 days and decided to go home a day early. I went in and asked the owner if I could get a refund for the last night as we were going to check out a day early, she told me that because i booked through Expedia that I needed to go through them. I thought that was weird because I paid the hotel directly at check it, but said okay I will contact them. Expedia customer service was great, they said it shouldn’t be a problem but needed to confirm with the hotel, I was put on hold while they called the hotel. The hotel owner (the lady I had previously talked to) told Expedia I would not be eligible for a refund even if I checked out early due to the “Policy”. The customer service rep from Expedia thought she was being unreasonable, but there was nothing she could do as they said “No”. There was absolutely no reason why they could not refund me one night for leaving early other than she just didn’t want to. That is bad customer service…so we will never go back and recommend that you stay somewhere else.
