The sign on the property says "Hostal Rural" and that captures the feel of the place. The village of Espinal (Spanish name)/Aurizberri (Basque name) is only 10 minutes' walk from one end to the other and it is on one of the paths to El Camino de Santiago de Compostela. So, there are many places for pelligrinos (pilgrims) making the journey to stay and it is surrounded by rural fields. There is a pub/restaurant downstairs that is well attended by locals and travellers alike, serving good, plentiful, traditional food and drink. The rooms are not modern, but clean, well enough equipped and comfortable. The staff are very helpful but my woeful Spanish (and non-existent Basque) made communication slightly difficult at times. I only stayed one night and by myself, so I didn't get "the full experience". Anyway, it was great for me and I recommend it.

The property is newer and nice and the staff helpful but I think it’s unacceptable to not provide soap in the restrooms. When I asked they gave me a little packet of liquid soap. Was I supposed to carry it around and use it everytime I needed soap?

Pasamos una noche y tuvimos una estancia muy agradable. Nos atendieron súper bien desde el minuto uno, la cama era súper cómoda. La ducha estaba un poco sucia. Cenamos y desayunamos en el hostal muy bien. Además es un pueblito muy agradable para pasear. Volveremos :)

Se trataba de un apartamento muy bien acondicionado en una ubicación magnífica para estar y conocer todo el entorno. Pero el hostal está muy orientado a estancias de una noche de peregrinos y gentes de paso. De ahí tal vez que la oferta de restauración sea muy limitada. El trato normal y algún problema de coordinación entre el personal.
