Could not make it
I injured my knee the evening before I was to drive up to King Salmon, so was unable to enjoy Shell Cottage, and too late for any refund! I had stayed previously however, and it was lovely; hence my desire to return.

We love this place! It was safe and quiet, not to mention DOG FRIENDLY!! The perfect spot to Walk the dog to an enclosed dog beach On the bay! Will stay again

Good property, strangely pushy property management
Property was great. Got emails from the property management company every single day asking me to review until I finally posted a review. Way too much email from that company. Almost like they were desperate.

Shell Cottage love
This little cottage was perfect for us. It had a fenced in space for our little girl both front and back. It’s decorated with plants and foliage very nicely. The only negative we have is that the couch is pretty stained up, but clean. We enjoyed our stay and if ever in the area will stay there again. Felt very safe and even tho Interesting neighbors, everything and everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Nice Cottage but area its not so nice
The whole process to get inside its ridiculous- lock on gate, unlocking box to get key, bolted front door to access mud room plus main door - so two doors - to get inside. Over all the cottage its nice to sleep and all, could use some upgrades. The internet is not fast at all, also no working cable or tv programming. Just like the free channels or air tv, Also since a company manages the property its hard to get someone or a quick response.

Nice crash pad for a race
We stayed here for a local race —Avenue of the Giants— and it’s great. Neighborhood is a bit weird, but that wasn’t a problem.

Nice accommodation but unsure about the setting
We arrived about 8pm and found the outside gate padlocked so we couldn’t get in. This was not in our list of arrival instructions. Luckily the Vrbo 24 hr hotline quickly sorted us out. The house is very nice and comfortable but we weren’t sure about the setting. It is a very short walk from the house to a coastal path along the sea but the back and front garden areas of the house were completely enclosed so I felt a bit claustrophobic. I though we could sit out the back and enjoy views of the canal but that wasn’t possible. It is a sweet house to stay in if you are out all day and just need somewhere to eat and sleep. I don’t think it is a place to actually ‘holiday’ in.

Nice little spot
Interesting neighborhood with local color. House is small but workable. For warmth and comfort, it could use some rugs on the tile floor. The dock off the back is a nice touch for boaters like us. There are some pleasant short walks nearby, and lots of natural beauty within reach.

Quiet Retreat
Stayed three nights for a short get away. The cottage was clean, well maintained and adorable. Everything we needed and surprisingly quiet. Close to redwoods, beach, shopping and other amenities.

Cute comfy cottage
This was a very comfortable place to stay over thanksgiving. The kitchen had everything I needed to make a Turkey dinner for 7. The location is perfect, right on the water. Yes, there’s a trailer park across the street but it wouldn’t be Humboldt without a little funkiness.

Perfection
I chose this location for its closeness to my family and a yard for my dog. It was absolutely perfect. It was well stocked and very comfortable. The jacuzzi was heavenly. I will definately be back.

Delightful coastal cottage
The cottage on Perch St. is in the "hamlet" of King Salmon, a community of mixed sea cottages, cabins, and mobile homes of various stripes. The shared focus of most of the inhabitants is fishing and many houses, including our cottage, literally have docks in their back yard. The community is primarily older and friendly. The House is probably 150 yards from the beach and a series of jetties and perfect for taking our dog for a walk. The cottage was clean and minimally but effectively stocked with all the essentials. A spacious front room and comfortable Bed room and surprisingly spacious bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. Outside was perfect for keeping Penny (our pup) enclosed with a back and front yard. It was nice to get out of the bay area and Mendocino fires and see the gorgeous coast and redwoods.
