There are no amenities on board and in 2006 the timings were erratic and there was no schedule in English or English speakers at the terminal, but somehow I still managed to get there and back again... Failaka Island was an Iraqi stronghold during the gulf war and as a result was bombed and saw heavy artillery fire. It was emptied of Kuwaiti citizens before it was overtaken, but very few citizens had returned.
