Sven's Basecamp Hostel in Fairbanks has some of the coolest accommodation options--such as this treehouse, a tipi, cabins, wall tent glamping, etc. Sven also has a couple cute dogs and one teeny tiny husky puppy that everyone fought over to hold. Rent canoes here as well. Showers are costly (25 cents per minute!) but only because their water has to be brought in via truck so they try not to use too much too quickly. Wifi available. The Breakfast menu was a real bonus in getting your day started, the Airport shuttle was so incredibly convenient, and the staff were all absolutely wonderful -- especially, Danielle. The Golden North Inn was, as far as I am concerned, the best deal in town for staying in Fairbanks!

If you're spending some time in Slaterville, Chena River and Fairbanks Community Museum are top sights worth seeing.

Chena Hot Springs Resort offers a large variety of activities year-round. One of those is snow shoeing, both a fantastic and frusterating experience lol you can rent a pair at their activity center for $7.50/hr or a flat $25 a day. There are several trails around the resort ranging from an easy walk to a strenuous climb. This one was the mountain ridge trail, a 3 mile easy walk around the resort that held some pretty fantastic views, especially at sunset. Once you master the art of moving in a snow shie, its a surprisingly enjoyable way to spend the afternoon! :)
