Shadow Ridge Retreat | Pet Friendly + Stunning Mountain Views

This cozy cabin is the perfect mountain sanctuary for you and your family— just as it is for the monarch butterflies that reside here. If you've been searching for a private cabin in the woods with enchanting views, look no further. With such a great location, it's easy to take in the expansive mountain and valley views whether you're gathered around the fireplace inside or resting on the back deck.

As the sun goes down, you can visit the Monarch Butterfly sanctuary just below the cabin, and once it's dark, you can roast marshmallows and tell stories around the outdoor fire pit. This retreat will allow you to enjoy the best of what nature has to offer while still being conveniently located just a short drive away from Hendersonville, Arden, Fletcher, and Asheville.

House Layout:
This well-built log home features an open floor plan with a two-story great room with TV for streaming, a wood-burning fireplace, plenty of natural light, a primary bedroom on the main level with a king bed and full bath (accessible from bedroom and hallway), a guest bedroom upstairs with a bunk bed and also a full bed (streaming TV in this room). The upper level offers an open, loft-style bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom in the hallway. Outside, there is a fire pit for your enjoyment.

Please Note: This home is pet friendly with an additional fee. Parts of the road leading to the home are narrow. The last half mile is gravel and a high clearance vehicle is highly recommended in the event the road is rutted out after weather.

the view was great, the location good, having fire wood available was a plus On the down side directions for where to turn off to the house where difficult after dark, the filthy dishwasher unusable until I cleaned it and ran it twice with Lysol on the first run it was full of some black goop Jacuzzi tube was only a bathtub, not working and the filter part needed to be cleaned as well

Gorgeous cabin and views.
This place was beautiful. I would stay again. I was a little worried about making it up the last bit of gravel road to the house in my sedan but made it fine with AWD. It’s about 20 minutes to Hendersonville which we love. It would be ideal for a couple +/- kids but definitely not more than 2 adult couples given the layout with the loft and small bath upstairs. My 2 friends and I were fine tho. Only gave 4 stars for cleanliness because of the dust bunnies under furniture but that is easy fix. The porch is so wonderful and faces east and we spent hours out there. Thank you!

This place is legit!
This title, the text I received from the first member of our girl's weekend to arrive. Overall, the beautiful home was all we could hope for. It is 'tucked' into the mountain, and drive is steep, narrow - well worth the journey upon seeing and enjoying it. Recommend. Would like to come back!

Great place to spend in the mountains. Enjoyed the area. Only negative is the grass needs cut and the one lane road was a challenge. Almost had an accident of drivers coming up too fast and no where to go. Otherwise, great place!

Quaint and beautiful, with some interruptions
Pros: -Gorgeous views and fantastic wrap around porch. -Up to date kitchen and appliances. Nice dishes. -Sleep number bed in master was very comfortable. -For being secluded, internet worked great. -Assortment of puzzles and games. Cons: -Biggest issue we had was “staff” on the property to collect trash and blow leaves. We were not given a courtesy heads up that a staff member would be on the property and randomly we had a man show up on our porch. As two females in a secluded cabin it was a major safety issue. There are also no blinds or curtains so this person was just walking around while we were in the living room. We felt it was awkward and an invasion of our privacy. To be fair when we reached out to the management they started out was an oversight and notice is normally given. It happened twice in with notice given the second time -The trek up is as bad as others review it to be. Get a 4x4. We had one and even got a flat tire. -They give you the bare minimums for cooking and cleaning. Some properties we stayed at supplied plenty of cooking oils/spices/foil, etc. You are on your own. Also they give you two or three trash bags and two dishwasher detergent pods in a “welcome pack” and that’s it. Just be aware of this. -Batteries in tv remote were dead and we had to buy batteries as there were no extras there (A bit of a pain, given the remote location and 20 minutes to the closest store). -The main complaint most people had is the way the upstairs bedroom is open. It should be advertised better as it looks closed. This didn’t affect us as we stayed downstairs the whole time.

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods - Five Stars
My family of six plus our dogs stayed in this amazing cabin in the woods for one week. The location was perfect for various day trips in the area. The Greybeard staff was incredibly accommodating and answered my many questions prior to and during our stay. The cabin was perfectly appointed with everything needed to cook multiple meals for a larger group, the beds were comfy, and the place was extremely clean! The best part of all was the huge, comfortable fenced porch which we essentially lived on throughout our stay. We enjoyed the hummingbirds each morning and even saw a black bear and her two cubs on the last night! All in all, it was phenomenal, five star experience. We will be back!!

Great Mountain Getaway
The cabin is close to hiking trails, waterfalls, and all that Asheville has to offer. It also offers a secluded setting to just relax. We used the back deck for morning coffee and afternoon glasss of wine. It was peaceful - and beautiful. The cabin is clean and organized. We were thrilled with our stay there.

Bliss on the mountain!
Clean, lovely, with fantastic views from a wonderful covered porch. We had a perfect stay. Beds were comfortable, and the setting is very quiet, ideal for rest. Things to know: one bedroom (not the master, and not the one with bunk beds) is loft style, and gets a lot of early morning light. If this bothers you, bring an eye mask. (If not, good: you will enjoy waking up to stunning sunrises.) It is about a 20-30 minute drive into Asheville. The road up the hill is a steep gravel road but we did just fine in our Honda Pilot SUV. In the areas at the base of the hill/mountain you will likely lose cell coverage, so program your directions well in advance. Once you are high atop the hill or in the house, our cellphones and wifi worked just fine (both blessing and curse!).

Perfect Private Getaway
This cabin’s views are simply stunning! The cabin was clean and the king size sleep number bed in the master suite was an added bonus of comfort! My family enjoyed watching the birds and named our bear visitor Carl! The road to get to the cabin was a bit of an adventure but was fine with our truck. The cabin is close to the town of Arden with was a short 10 minute drive for groceries, restaurants, etc. We also enjoyed visiting Asheville and the Biltmore which is a short 30 minute drive. Gorgeous hiking trails are also near by so there is something for everyone at this cabin!

Perfect cabin with great hiking trails
Feels off the beaten path when you first drive in from Interstate 26, but actually you are only 15-20 minutes to restaurants, Whole Foods, fresh market, Publix etc. We came with our 2 dogs and the hiking trails practically across the street were wonderful. The back porch was a great place to lounge and take a nap in the sun. I would definitely rent this little gem again.

Excellent getaway retreat
This property was exactly what my wife and I were looking for as a relaxing retreat away from the city. It is close enough to Asheville and the surrounding attractions (Biltmore, Pisgah National Forest, Blueridge Parkway, etc.) that you can easily go into town for whatever activities you need to do, and far enough out to feel disconnected and relaxed. It had rained quite a bit before we went, so we were very happy to have a 4WD vehicle for the road up to the cabin. I would say 4WD wasn't as necessary as a vehicle with decent ground clearance if there has been a lot of rain. Overall our stay was perfect and we definitely intend on coming back. If we were ever to have our own cabin, we would want it to be exactly like this one.

I highly recommend this property for the view. The kitchen was the most well equipped of any rental I have stayed in. Loved that. Layout of the house was perfect for sky views and sunrises. Highly recommend-our two dogs loved it and the inside and outside fire areas are great!!
