Nice, beautiful antique construction hotel,Very clean,staff very helpful and very nice /friendly.Continental breakfast was delicious ,but not a lot of variety, but what I learned in the time I was here, that is what Italians eat for breakfast. Shower very small ,but very clean.Location great a lot of restaurants, shops near the hotel. Overall I loved it.I will definetly recommend Bologna Hotel. Lupita from California:)

Excellent value in pleasant neighbourhood
This hotel is located just outside the centre of Florence in a nice spot with plenty of good local restaurants and shops nearby - and unlike the centre there are no tourist rip-offs! My room was very comfortable although it looked onto an internal courtyard so no view. That said, it was good value for money and the breakfast buffet was excellent with proper cappuccino on request. Great service from the staff.

Friendly staff, decent breakfast considering price. Rooms well maintained, but not very modern. Location ok; if you don't mind walking it is 30 minutes to the station, less to the city centre. Only Italian TV channels. Some thin walls and some noisy neighbors one night, but staff dealt with that.

Good hotel away from main centre
The hotel was spotlessly clean and our room comfortable if a little dark due to the traditional Italian furniture. The young man on the desk went out of his way to answer our queries and suggest ideas for visits. he even found a screen at the local rugby club where we could watch the rugby! Breakfast was plentiful with a variety of fruit, cereal, meat and cheese and the young lady serving remembered our preferences for drinks each morning without us having to ask. The hotel was about 20 minutes pleasant walk from the centre of Florence but there were lots of lovely bars and eating places on the doorstep. The 2 suggested by the hotel staff were particularly good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay away from the bustle of tourists in the centre and would like to thank the staff for their hospitality.

Spring 2015 Florence, Italy vacation
My family had a wonderful stay at Bolgna. It is a quaint family-run hotel with an elevator. It is quite a walk to/from the sights, but we were all adults and didn't mind the daily exercise. It is in a quiet neighborhood. Daily breakfast was a plus. We will definitely return to this hotel if we're in Florence, Italy.

The staff was incredible and very accommodating. The room was very clean but just OK. The breakfast was very good. The proprietor had my coffee ready for me every morning which was very nice. The AC wasn't quite cold enough.

The hotel was close to the train station which was what we were looking for. However, the room was very dark and dismal. It was a little noisy but when your that close to the action, it is expected.

We enjoyed our stay!
We spent part of our honeymoon at Hotel Bologna. They should get a six stars for people, because they treated us so well. More of this authenticity in human relations is what the world really needs; they are a family business and the quality shows.

Good Hotel in a gorgeous city!
The hotel was in a good location about 15-20 minute walk to the city center. It was a nice walk to see the stores and some restaurants. The area was safe and quite. The hotel personal was polite and spoke English. The free breakfast was convenient and the make fresh cappuccinos, latter..etc to order which I enjoyed.

Hotel staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. They recommended two restaurants - one (Cocotrippone) was phenominal, highly recommend trying it for authentic Florentine dishes. The condition of the room was not great. We had a quad which consisted of two queen beds which basically took up the whole room - there was really no place to open suitcases. There was mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom. Bed linens were older and worn and the bed was a brick. The breakfast was quite nice, good selection of pastries, fruit, yogurt, meat & cheeses. Location is good, approx 15 min walk from city centre, but in a great little neighborhood of shops & restaurants. As always you get what you pay for - would consider staying here again based on good location and great staff, but know going in that this is not 4 or 5 star accomodation.

6 nights at the Hotel Bolgna-a wonderful visit.
we enjoyed staying in this location because it was in a " real " neighborhood. the 24 hour front desk staff were always friendly and helpful as well as the kitchen and cleaning staff. it was close to bus stops and bus ticket agents. the price was reasonable. wish it had an English tv channel for news!

Clean, Kind in Everyway
Bear with me....but I must let everyone know how grateful I am. I have traveled to Italy/Europe several times, and was staying with friends and family at Bologna Hotel, who were there for the first time. "The Plan" had been for me to arrive several hours earlier than them, and have things settled for their arrival. Of course, my flight was cancelled and theirs(on the other side of the country) was not. I immediately called the hotel with all my worries and concerns. They were so helpful and kind, and completely put me at ease with their sense of responsibility. They welcomed them and helped them find a family resturant that my family loved. Everyone was very happy the next day when I arrived, and I was relieved and grateful. Now for the hotel...extremely clean and quiet with an amazing staff that was always kind, courteous and helpful. The two men in the group raved about breakfast!! I thoroughly enjoyed it myself. The location is residentual, within easy access to public transporatation and if you don't mind some walking, not very far from the main attractions. I will always be grateful for Bologna's staff and will always recommend it. OF COURSE I will be returning to both Italy, Florence and Bologna Hotel!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bologna. Breakfast was included in our stay. There was a variety of baking, fruit, cheese, eggs and meat. Whether we asked about the bus service or about sight-seeing tips, the friendly, front-desk staff provided the best advice. Bathroom was tiny. Other than that, we were very satisfied. If we go back to Florence, we will certainly stay there again.

Our stay was excellent. The hotel is a convenient bus ride from the airport. Its in a quiet, peaceful, and safe residential neighborhood, yet at walking distance from the city center. There are some very good restaurants, bars, and cafes close by too. The rooms are very clean. We especially loved the balcony attached to our room! The owners of the hotel were very nice and helpful with recommendations, maps, and general information. Highly recommend this place!

Nice hotel
The Bologna is a very nice hotel. Off the beaten path, and a bit of a walk to the city center, but worth it, if you'd like to stay in a neighborhood. There are good places to eat around the corner, and full of locals. The staff (especially the young man-can't recall his name) were very friendly and accomodating. When I asked about Uffizi reservations a couple of weeks before our trip, the hotel offered to make the reservations for me. (At no charge)

Excellent hotel in a quieter part of Florence.
The cost of hotels on central Florence is crazy and I don't like being surrounded by tour groups all the time. Bologna is about twenty minutes walk from the main sites in Florence . It is simple but clean and the staff are extremely helpful. There are some lovely local bars and restaurants away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds in the city centre. This hotel made our trip to Florence. It is close enough to the tourist sites but you can still escape!

We loved it, there were even window screens so we could open the windows without worrying about mosquitoes, the walk to the city center is pretty much a straight shot (you can stay on 1 street the whole way to the Duomo), and the street was shady and lined with lovely shops. It is not in the center of the city (about a 1.2 km walk) but we thought this was a plus, and actually enjoyed the stroll. It was very quiet. The breakfast was great. The wifi actually worked. The staff were very nice. We will be coming back here.

Location is a bit far from central station, take no. 14 bus to hotel. Hotel is small, but people are nice and helpful. Wifi is terrible. There is a big supermarket near by and a fanastic restaurant (recommended by the hotel) as well. If don't mind for walking, walk around 25 minutes to the major attraction points. Overall, I feel satisfied of staying in this hotel.

The hotel was easily reached by the no. 14 bus (the hotel had emailed us very good instructions). The room was on the second floor at the back and from the window you could see out to the hills. There was plenty of space in the room and bed was kingsize and comfy. The bathroom was perfectly good too with shower cubicle, loo and bidet. The safe worked and was very useful. We could have done with more hanging space and some drawers for our clothes but it wasn't a problem really. The location is good - 10 minutes to the cathedral - but without the cost of the central hotels. The breakfast was very nice - fresh fruit every day! The hotel recommended 2 places to eat in the neighbourhood and we tried one, found it excellent food and very cheap, so went back twice - Coco Trippone.

Small but adequate . . . Good customer service
We booked the hotel for my wife and I and our 3 children (6, 8,9). All five of us fit in one room . . . but barely. We were quite literally rolling over each other to get out of bed. Having said that, we know it is not easy to get a hotel where all five us are allowed to be in one room so we shouldn't complain too much (especially considering the price). The room was clean and adequate but no frills. The staff were really helpful with everything from making reservations to bus tickets and really whatever we needed. Very nice breakfast with fresh cappuccino. Would stay here again if the price was right.

your best deal for the money
Very nice neighborhood.......not too far from the center of everything.....about a 15 minute brisk walk. Safety not a concern....the breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety.....the staff was courteous and accommodating. Also, it was very quiet.....our traveling friends paid $150 to be in a more luxurious hotel in the center of Florence and couldn't sleep for all of the street noise. Use of the hotel's computer was free, but you need to go to their hotel next door to use it. We paid 10 euros from the train station (by meter) from the train station to the hotel, and 15 euros on our return to the train station because the taxi had to be called to pick us up. Very important! Make sure that you validate your "open" train tickets (at the station machine on the terminal wall) a little before you board the train. Otherwise, you may receive a hefty fine.

Excellent family run hotel
We stayed at the Hotel Bologna for four nights recently. This hotel may not be in the centre of Florence but it is comfortably within walking distance. The staff are very helpful and always ready to recommend restaurants,arrange trips and phone for taxis amongst other things. The breakfast is delicious (chocolate croissants!!) and there is plenty of choice including meats, eggs, tomatoes etc. as well as the usual juices, yoghourts, cereals, breads and spreads. In our room the beds were very comfortable and we slept well apart from the odd time that other guests made noise going past. The bathroom is quite small but everything works and is more than adequate. All in all a delightful stay in a very beautiful city

Wonderful Hotel and Staff
We had an excellent stay here from July 30th to July 31st of 2013. We booked this hotel as we had to catch a train departing the next day from Firenze Campo di Marte station. Don't be fooled by maps as the hotel has a great location! It's located in a friendly and authentic residential neighborhood, and is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city. The walk to the attractions, such as the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, and the Ponte Vecchio, was much shorter than we thought it would be. The walk was only 20 minutes and was pretty much a straight path. It was definitely worth the walk as you pass various cute little shops and places to eat. Plus, you couldn't beat the sight of seeing the Duomo suddenly come into sight! In addition to the location, the hotel was absolutely amazing for the value. The people at the front desk were extremely friendly and accommodating, and gave us a map with directions to the attractions. The room was a great size and was VERY clean! The air conditioner worked great too. In the morning a nice arrange of breakfast choices was available. The staff was so nice they offered to hold our bags after checkout for us to pick up later after a day shopping in the city. You definitely can't go wrong with this hotel and we hope to return soon!
