A Waterfront Oasis!
My husband and I got away for a much-needed short get-away and decided we wanted to keep it closer to home than fly somewhere. This amazing home stood out as the perfect get-away for us on San Juan Island. It's location, size, amenities, cleanliness, and excellent owner communication were second-to-none! The view from the decks were stunning, from sun-up to sunset. We saw eagles and a pod of Orcas swimming by. We had fun exploring the island from Lime Kiln State Park to Roche Harbor. Yet our favorite spot was coming home to a beautiful sunset while relaxing in the hot tub and sauna. This is truly a San Juan Island oasis! Thank you for everything - we had such a wonderful time!

What can I say that has not already been said? You need to look no further. This is a perfect spot for a couple and their small dog (us). The owners are incredibly responsive, and just after a few conversations, they are all-around great people. The Deck is outstanding—the hot tub and sauna with views of the passage are what you come to the PNW for. A morning cold plunge in the salt water and then a quick warm-up in the sauna is at your fingertips at this property. They have thought of everything when it comes to the house. Bedding is great- kitchen is stocked, there is even a milk frother- which my wife loved. It is secluded but minutes from town. What else? Book it? Your only regret is going to wish you booked it longer. Thank you, D&K, for such a great weekend getaway.

Loved the home. Comfortable and beautiful views! Perfect for two couples to relax and close to Friday Harbor. The decks were expansive but one level needs a rail for safety.

Wow, just wow! An absolutely stunning place to stay. The views and decks provided the most perfect place to enjoy San Juan island. The property had everything we needed, and was so comfortable to stay in. Communication with our hosts was above and beyond what I would expect. 100% would book again!

Fabulous Views
Karen and Duncan's house sets an incredible stage for one of the most dramatic views we encountered on the island. The home had everything we needed to make some few meals. The house is extremely clean, lots of space to put clothing away (though it does lack a closet to hang clothing & could use a few more hooks to make up for that). The bed was comfortable. Views are available from most every room in the house as well as the spacious, layered deck. Overlooking the wide bay view is incredibly soothing and magical. One special touch was the small skylight above the bed you can look at stars throughout the night from (or you can close the shade on it) We would definitely stay again.

The views from this house are amazing and the owners go out of their way with the amenities (Hello! Sauna) and special touches to make this a magical place to stay on San Juan Islands. The house was spotless, kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook and comfortable mattress in the master suite. Little touches like heated floors in the master bath, spa robes, charging stations, binoculars and playing cards make this a homey place to hang as well. Karen and Duncan were extremely communicative and even made a special trip to make sure the propane tank was full before we came.

The deck was amazing. The jacuzzi and sauna were also very good. The place was very clean. The only part that took some getting used to were the low ceiling areas. Being over 6 feet tall can be a little challenging in some areas. Had to be careful not to bang my head but overall, I’d do it again.

Absolutely perfect
We enjoyed every moment and wish we could have stayed longer! The views from every room are amazing and the house was perfect for our group of 4 (2 adults and teen kids). The pull-out couch was great for the kids to separate and we opted for eating dinners at home to enjoy the decks. I highly recommend a polar plunge at high tide- walk down the stairs into the water and then warm up in the sauna. There was an issue with the hot tub during our stay and the owner communicated about it before we arrived and handled everything right away. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and hope to come back!

Great views but a few minor disappointments
Nice clean house with a great deck. The view is fantastic and we enjoyed happy hours by the fire pit. Internet WIFi was not reliable, going in and out constantly during our stay. Could not find modem to try a reboot. Hot tub needs drain/fresh water fill. Water was not clear and very foamy. Coffee maker did not work our first day due to it requiring a descaling cycle. Including paddles for the kayaks would have been nice.

Most Incredible View, Homeowners and Stay
This house was incredible, from the adorable decor inside, to the panoramic view outside. We enjoyed using the fire pit/table at sunset, playing the outdoor games, listening to John Denver using the side tables in the living room that double as speakers, and spending time dipping our toes in the ocean at the very bottom of the beautiful deck. It was cozy, comfortable, and wonderful all around. We can’t wait to return next year!

Loved this place! The views were unbelievable! We actually saw an eagle up close as it soared right over the amazing deck on more than one occasion! We made a point to either cook or bring food back so that we could take advantage of the deck for as long as possible! The interior was well decorated, stocked, and clean. The beds were comfortable. Good technology available to use. Host was super nice! Don’t hesitate — Book this place now before it’s gone!

This property is not far from Friday Harbor but feels a world away from the hustle and bustle. Absolutely beautiful views of the water with large decks to relax and enjoy. Clean, well stocked, ample room, good bed’s and great location. Throughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back! Duncan was very responsive to any questions we had.

Fantastic, clean place with spectacular view. Has everything you need and smartly decorated. You’ll want to spend time on the decks in summer and just experience the nature surrounding you. Very comfortable and relaxing property. Easy to get to Roche and Friday Harbors, all over island (you’ll need car unless you enjoy cycling steep hills every time you leave house but that’s a great price for the view this place offers!). Will definitely add to our list to return. Thank you for hosting such a great property!

Idyllic getaway
Everything about this property is ideal: the views, the kitchen, the comfortable beds, the great showers, etc. Even the driveway may be the most beautiful, ever. The hosts were very kind and responsive. We wished we could have stayed weeks longer.

Clean, comfortable, and beautiful!
This property was even better than as advertised. They spared nothing in redoing this house and it shows. The owners were communicative throughout the stay, answering questions, checking to make sure everything was going well, and offering tips for our stay. The house felt spacious and the multi-level deck was stunning. The kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry area were all well stocked with everything we could need. The beds were comfortable and it was great to go to sleep with crisp air from open windows. The drive to Friday Harbor is less than 10 minutes and if you are up for a walk, there is a beautiful 2.5 mile trail through the woods that also takes you into town. We will absolutely reserve this property if we are on San Juan Island. Don’t miss it!

Beautiful respite, gracious hosts
We had a wonderful stay, spending hours on the amazing deck soaking in the peace of the island and watching eagles and seals pass by. The home itself was cozy with many thoughtful details (binoculars, well stocked kitchen, etc). There are many great sitting and viewing spots— inside and out. The home is clean, bright and modern. It has easy access to town. We accidentally caused a major mishap with our check-in that created a big inconvenience for the hosts, and they were beyond kind and patient in responding to the situation. Overall a beautiful property with outstanding hosts.

Perfection on the sea!
Our group of 4 LOVED our stay at the PaddleShack! There was a small mishap with check in but it was resolved quickly and the hosts were incredibly responsive! The house was clean and just as described. The view was absolutely breathtaking! Not to mention the 3 level deck.. unbelievable! We had a great 3 night stay and were sad to leave!

Wonderful!
Absolutely wonderful. Spectacular views and service from hosts. The home was beautiful and comfortable, with all the amenities. The hosts made sure our mother/daughter getaway was memorable. There was some unexpected construction on the property the days our trip was scheduled. A mild inconvenience at most, however, the hosts went above and beyond to make up for it. We had an amazing trip and I can’t wait to book here again next Friday Harbor trip! What a special place!
