Disappointed - dirty curtains and carpets

I really love this hotel! We had a really big bedroom and a lovely bathroom (the shower was amazing). There was even a fridge which is rare. Bear in mind it’s kinda far from the center of Aberdeen but parking was easy on a week night. We went in a lovely italien restaurant Al fresco where the price was quite affordable and the service super quick.

Myself and family arrived home yesterday from a one night stay at thainstone house. I stayed here years ago for a wedding and remember being very impressed with it, therefore wanted to come back for a stay with my family. (It was my wife's birthday). I'll begin with all the positives from our stay.....the house and rooms were very impressive and really lovely. The staff were incredibly polite and friendly. The leisure facilities were good and clean. However, there were a few niggles that I think would prevent us staying again unfortunately. When I booked the stay, I stated it was my wife's birthday and could anything be done at dinner for this and received no reply. We travelled 2 hours to get to the hotel, and had dinner booked on arrival. Dining area was lovely and staff friendly. We ordered our food; it was served to us and then we were told what my son had ordered wasn't available. (I would assume, being told this when ordering would be standard protocol). We all had finished our meals before he received his meal, which was so disappointing. I did speak to someone discreetly, and credit where it is due, he was lovely and apologetic - he discounted the bill. So, although this wasn't ideal, it was put right and dealt with well. The food was ok, but really nothing special. My steak just looked like it had been popped in the oven. Service was incredibly slow, even for drinks.
