Modern furnishings and rustic charm perfectly coincide in the cabin's interior. The decor is complete with great new furniture, log cedar beds, and a bar top island that will truly amaze you!

The kitchen area features all new appliances, a refrigerator, electric cook stove, microwave, and more. The pièce de résistance of the kitchen is a special 4-inch full tree slab converted to be the counters and an island.

During the downtime, unwind in front of the Smart TV or enjoy a romantic evening around the wood stove in the living area. All the comforts of home have been provided, including spectrum tv/wifi, unlimited wireless internet and electric heating for those extra cold days.

End each night on a sweet note with s'mores around the fire pit - best enjoyed with a guitar and your go-to campfire songs. Linger outside late into the evening, until the sound of the river lulls you into a dreamy state and you're ready to retire inside.

Two bedrooms offer accommodations for 5 guests, with additional space available on the twin bed in the loft.

This Property is bordering the Famous Otter Creek Horse Trails(hiker friendly). Adjacent to the western edge of the Adirondack Park to the east of Lake Ontario, south of Lowville in Lewis County are two public forest areas managed by the State Department of Environmental Conservation, (the DEC): the Independence River Wild Forest, and the Independence River and Otter Creek State Forest. There are arguably 65 wonderful miles of riding trails through these two adjacent wilderness areas. They are called the Otter Creek Horse Trails. The Otter Creek Horse Trails are a series of old sandy roads and wooded trails that traverse a beautifully diversified region, populated with wildlife. Once off the sandy roads, the trails wind their way along sand flats and through wooded areas, access picturesque glacial ponds, and have climbs that lead to fine river vistas. If you and your horse like water, the trails follow or cross the Independence River and no less than seven smaller waterways: Otter, Little Otter, Beaver Meadow, Chase, Burnt, and Crooked Creeks. All eventually flow into the Black River that continues on north into Lake Ontario. It's truly a beautiful area in any season of the year. Yes, even in winter.

Snowmobiling Paradise Access Lewis county trail system right from cabin, higher elevation here means more snow !

Excellent area for hiking
Direct access to the heart of the Otter Creek Horse trail network. I’m a walker / hiker and found these trails to be excellent. The Independence River is beautiful and the surrounding forest is very pleasant. We found our mid-April visit to be great, no bugs, good water in the river and tributary creeks, open and sunny forest, warm sun. Not swimming weather but otherwise excellent.

Rushing River Sounds Cabin
The cabin was just as stayed on the listing. It had most of the necessary items and was very clean. However it did no justice to the sounds of the roaring river just yards away from the cabin. Inside the cabin, there is peacefulness. Open the door and you hear the sounds of the river flowing by. Take a hike on the horse trails on the state forest lands nearby. It was a very restful time. Enjoyed the steaks and baked potatoes on the grill right beside the warmth of the firepit. Would love to come here again.

It Was Like Spending Your Weekend in a Hallmark Card
This immaculate “Real” log cabin reeks of coziness and charm. The inside glowed at night between the wood burning stove and the dim lighting. Being on the rushing Independence River was the cherry on top. The river is mere steps from the covered back porch. Both bedrooms are at the back of the cabin, so you can hear this strong rushing river all night. Just enough to lull you to sleep. Looking forward to staying there in the summer.

looking for some "Green Time"
We live In Montreal and were looking for a little “green” time. These were the criteria for our getaway: First: peace and quiet: check! The property had that and then some. Ralph’s chalet is set about 650 feet from the road, down a steep hill. No noise whatsoever. Second: I fly fish, so a wading river was a must….check! Third fire pit: when you live in the city, all escapes to the countryside need a place to sit around, warm your bones, sip some tequila, and have some “face-to-face” …. check! check! EXTRA: what could be better than a wood burning stove in the chalet …. (most rentals don’t have a wood stove or fireplace inside due to insurance costs) …. seems Ralph trusts his clients. I just want to add that a wood burning stove lit on a cool, damp fall morning…..OMG!!! Fourth BBQ: Clean, with clean utensils and two tanks (so you don’t get stuck with half cooked steaks) ….check! check! And check!!! The chalet itself was welcoming, warm, well appointed; felt more like a borrowed friend’s chalet than a rental. We had no rain that week (YEAH US!!!) …but the covered porch would have been a perfect place to sit and enjoy the day. A few more mentions: Two stacks of wood are supplied; one for the wood burning stove and the other for the fire pit. Ralph was considerate enough to restock the pit pile because we city folk can’t get enough. WiFi: very fast and issue free. Town of Lowville (a few miles down the road): Lovely, has all the amenities (excellent grocery stores, restaurants, l

Beautiful relaxing place to stay
This place is beautifully maintained and clean, and the hosts could not be more responsive. The cabin itself is lovely with multiple sleeping areas and comfortable beds. The location is right on the creek and down the hill from a not very traveled road so you feel like you are completely alone. The place includes everything from firewood for the fire ring by the river to games and a kitchen that worked quite well for the cooking we did. We hiked straight out from the cabin so we never got back in the car, but the hosts also include comprehensive guide to the area. I would definitely book again.
