My wife asked why heating couldn’t be turned on lady on desk wasn’t sure .It came on automatically below a certain temperature. Even in these energy saving times guests need the choice. Building looks shabby from outside shame as in nice area . Room was clean . Bed not top quality.

We stayed here to go to Cheltenham Football Stadium. It was a short walk and we enjoyed our stay. Parking in Cheltenham town centre is tricky.

Disappointing Hotel
Hotel has no vibe. Not near anything. Staff said "since you booked with Hotel.com breakfast is not included" which I thought was a rude waying of saying that. Could have said, let us know if you would like to add breakfast. Anyways, I would not stay here again. Bed was too hard. Just didn't connect with the hotel at all.

Thank you for your feedback. It is a shame that you did not enjoy the character of the property or the quiet location just a 10 minute walk to the Town Center of Cheltenham. Our mattresses are from Hypnos which is known for their quality and comfort - they are at a medium firmness rating which we find suits most people. Our Team are usually very welcoming, friendly and helpful, we are sorry that you did not feel this on this occasion.

I think this property was ok but definitely not the 5 stars it claims. Breakfast was on offer but no dinner unless you were booking it for an event. Property was in need of care & the photos I looked at in choosing it unfortunately don't match up when you see it in person.

Thank you for your feedback Michelle, we are sorry to hear that you felt slightly disappointed with your visit. It is the AA that provide our 5 star rating under the Guest Accommodation category. Although we do not have a Restaurant here at Cotswold Grange there are many fantastic places to eat in Cheltenham, just a short walk from us. We do serve an excellent breakfast - 7.50 for Continental or 15 for both Continental and cooked breakfast (breakfast is complimentary when booking direct).

Stayed here for two days on a business trip. The hotel is well situated and clean. Staff were pleasant. My detracting points were that the room was small and lacking in natural light - although this is to be expected from a building of that age and architecture, a lack of air conditioning or fans in-situ meant the room was too hot for my liking, but not uncomfortably so, the Tv was a little dated and the Wi-Fi signal in the sub-ground floor was atrocious. That said, everything was nicely outfitted and very clean. As such, if you’re here for businesses you’ll probably be fine to use the hotel as a base to sleep, but working from the privacy of your room may be a struggle if you had basic double in a sub-floor as I did. I also wouldn’t want to spend a particularly long time in the room due to its size - but there is plenty of excellent countryside within running / walking distance. Recommended, but be cautious of which room you choose.

Most of our Small Double Rooms are located on the Lower Ground Floor and we would agree that a more spacious Deluxe Double or Luxury Double Room is better suited for a longer stay. It is always best to call us with any room preferences and we will try to ensure that we allocate the most appropriate room. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Not what I expected for 5 star
I was attracted to this hotel with its 5 star rating and great location. It felt like a B&B really and felt quite strange to have a key to the front door because the desk isn't 24hours. This was quite frustrating as our radiator was stuck on maximum and I couldn't tell anyone until the morning. The room was very small so it was very hot and only receiving a "sorry" unfortunately means I won't be staying again. I'm quite puzzled as to what was 5 star. The wardrobe door creaked so loud it woke me up and the Nescafé coffee didn't really appeal to us either. The price was quite good, but there was a chain hotel offering a modern room nearly 3 times the size for around £70 less per night.

Thank you for your feedback Adam. We are advertised on Expedia as a 5 star Guest House. Our Reception Desk is not 24 hours, however as detailed in your guest information there is an out of hours number if assistance is required. We are sorry to hear that you were not totally happy with your stay and that the Small Double Room that you booked did not meet your requirements, we do have larger rooms such as a Deluxe Double & Luxury Double which would appear to be more closely matched with your preferences. We are always looking to make improvements wherever possible so appreciate your comments on the coffee and we are currently looking at alternative options, we have also oiled the creaking wardrobe door. Yes there are modern cheaper chain hotels available but most of our guests appreciate our period property from the 1850s with high ceilings and grand stone staircase, the individually styled rooms with a boutique feel and the great location in the historic district of Pittville. As you have mentioned our price is good and our Reception Team are happy to discuss price options to ensure excellent value.

A lovely period building with high ceilings and ornate features. Staff very helpful and polite. Breakfast was excellent with good choices. Best of all was it’s location. Right in the heart of Cheltenham and all amenities within walking distance. Would stay again.

We booked because we were going to the races. So first of all This hotel is really convenient for the race course and walkable in 15 minutes. We were allowed to use the on-site parking before checking in therefore allowing us to walk to the course and enjoy our day with a few drinks. We booked a small double and that is exactly what we got but was everything we needed and the bed was so comfortable I slept really well. We were room 25. It truly is a beautiful hotel and we will be back.

Lovely hotel with lovely breakfast. Staff were lovely too! There is no lift but this is mentioned at booking. As others mention, parking can get full up quickly even during the week and spaces aren't big. Not in an exciting area of Cheltenham if that's what you're looking for but the quiet of the residential area suited me just fine on this stay. Would suggest to other upcoming guests to ask for everything you want for breakfast as was dependent on the receptionist whether you were told you weren't limited to one item from the menu. All in all, very pleased with this hotel and would stay again.
