(432 reviews) Great location! Easy quick walk to Earls Ct. Underground and a bus stop is also close to the hotel. Room decor was a bit dated- it is planned for renovation soon though. Staff were helpful ,friendly and it was very clean. Kitchen stocked with coffee, tea, milk, paper towels, dishwasher and laundry soap. Also, dishes/glasses and some pans/utensils. This is a VERY old building, the elevator is tiny and old (you close and open the door and gate yourself). It’s quirky. If someone does not close it on the 3rd floor it’s stuck there. So you have to walk up the stairs and check each floor to see where it stopped. You can then get on and take it to your floor or just close it so it will work for others. The staff are very kind and offered to try and find out where it was stuck ( this happened to us twice), but we just took the stairs. The hallways are a bit broken up with doors and steps up and down. We had to go to the 5th floor then go through a few hallways and get to a back stairway and take that down one flight to our fourth floor room. We personally thought it was a fun unique experience, but if you have ANY physical limitations or if you bring huge heavy suitcases on vacation you need to make sure your room/ floor will work. It is not a very accessible building at all! I really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it for the right people. If you are looking for fancy, this is not it! If you are looking for a great location, clean rooms, nice staff, this is perfect! (19 reviews) Okay stay... We chose to stay here due to the opening offer discount, which we were happy with the hotel for what we paid, but would have been disappointed if we had paid more! One issue was the room bed size - we paid more for a king size bed, however, according to their very own receptionist, on the hotels booking system there is no differentiation between a double and a king. Therefore, they charge you more for a king when there's no difference to a double. The bed was 2 single divans pushed together (with one mattress though), so is a king size... So, just book the double to get a king size bed! The receptionist was very rude when we asked to check the room and spoke to myself and my partner in an aggravated manner. Had I been a lone female, I would have felt uncomfortable. Not professional for what is meant to be a 4-star hotel. We were also given a connecting room without being asked if we were okay with that - which we weren't really, it is London! In the rooms, none of the bathroom sinks have a plughole. Therefore, you cannot fill up a sink to wash your face/have a shave. This is likely because they have installed sinks with no overflow hole, therefore you could flood the room if you left the tap on. Our sink also had no hot water. When we reported it at the end of our stay (as we just put up with it), there was no apology. The room was very clean and the location is really nice for a change in London. The thing about the Berkeley is it should be re-named as it bares no resemblance to the original Berkeley Hotel we first stayed in 30 years ago .It has gone through some great changes over the years the Blue bar and Collins room designed by David Collins and didn’t Sir Richard Roger’s design the entrance .
