Once in a lifetime
House of the Canoe was exactly as described and Quinten was a wonderful host. The accommodations were perfect for our 8 day vacation on Oahu. Perfect residential location, close to everything. We would definitely stay again.

Great 2 BR near Honolulu
We loved this property. Its very well maintained and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki to be much more relaxing. Its in a quiet 'suburban-feeling' neighborhood. Two distinct bedrooms that can accommodate a family of 4. Wish we could have stayed longer :)

Father Daughter Adventure
This was our second visit to Oahu. We wanted to stay near Waikīkī but outside of tourist zone. House is in a lovely residential neighborhood with great access to anything you need or want to do. Fantastic amenities, comfortable beds, close to shopping center and walking beach. Easy access to downtown as well as highways to take you east, west and north. Host was super responsive and shared a lot of great information about restaurants, music venues and nearby markets. It was just two of us, but the place is set up to accommodate families with great beach gear and a cabinet full of games and puzzles.

Wonderful Honolulu.
The place is pristinely clean! Just as described, property is well located and laid out. Host is very accommodating and even had snacks for our arrival! If you’re coming yo town to be close to Waikīkī, but staying away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place!

The host for this property was in constant communication when needed and flexible with check-in times to accommodate us. He even provided us with popular sites to visit, gifts at the house, and beach gear. This is a perfect place for any family to stay while they are visiting Hawaii!

We really appreciate our host who welcomed us and provided warm and clear communication to the property. They were very accommodating to our needs and went over and above to set up an extra bed for us. A very nice property, great hosts, worked just perfectly for us. Exactly as described, nice to have access to beach chairs and things. Perfect location in that it is out of Waikiki, but close enough to get there quickly, close to Hanauma Bay, and the drive to the windward side is also convenient. Would definitely stay again!

We had a fantastic vacation! Quintin was very helpful with a list of local activities our teen girls were able to choose from. The house was immaculate! We did not enjoy Honolulu rush hour traffic, or weekend beach traffic. The house is a bit of a drive from swimable beaches, but close to grocery stores and the kitchen was spacious for us to prep our meals for the day. Thank you for our stay!

This worked out perfectly for us. The host was super helpful, gave many good ideas for things to do in the area, was very accomodating and we would happily stay here again. I tried to find a place close to downtown Honolulu, but away from the hustle and bustle. This place is exactly that. This have everything anyone could need and it's very well decorated. Great one-week stay in Oahu
The location was perfect. There is a great view of the ocean from the deck. It is thankfully away from the over-crowded, traffic-chocked Waikiki Beach area. The apartment is nicely decorated and well-furnished. Quinten was a very helpful and attentive host. All-in-all a wonderful place to spend a vacation week. Highly recommended.

Nicely kept house in a quiet neighborhood with very convenient access to a nearby shopping mall and eateries. House comes with everything needed for a short or long stay. It is perfect for a family of four with two younger children. Quinten, the host, is very helpful and accommodating.

Enjoyed our stay. One thing I was not aware of was the 2nd bathroom is downstairs and the 2nd bedroom is upstairs. Just an inconvenience but not a deal breaker. We enjoyed the little touches that made it homey. The Christmas tree, coffee and tea, makeup wipes, cute decor etc...

Property as described, very comfortable, clean, good communication with the owners. Beach isn’t that easy to get to, must cross a very busy highway, and then it’s only for walking on. But easy to get to many other nice beaches, stores, restaurants, etc. so overall a great option in East Honolulu.

Hawaii getaway
We had a wonderful stay at Hale Wa’a. Everything described in the reviews was true. Elaine was a wonderful hostess (quinten was out of town when we were there). She was easy to get in touch with, very helpful, and just an overall lovely person. We went to HI to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday and she brought over a cake and balloon!!! The place is conveniently located. It is about 15 minutes east of Waikiki, driving. Easy drive to many amazing beaches on the east side of the island (that’s where we spent most of our time). Close to Hanauma bay (need reservations. Can only make 2 days in advance). There is a nice little beach that is ~5 minutes away via walking. This is not really a beach to hang out on but more to just walk and watch the sunset or the waves. The place is super clean and very well stocked. They have everything you could need, including all the beach/snorkel gear you might need. Rooms are comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the morning with our coffee and watching the sun rise. Overall, a great place to stay. We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Honolulu.

Perfect location. Loved the lanai.
The home was close to downtown sites without being in the thick of the chaos of tourists. Very easy access to and from the airport at non- rush-hour times. Note: Honolulu has a significant traffic during its early rush-hour. The home worked well for our family of 3: enjoyed morning coffee on the lanai and borrowed beach equipment for a snorkeling excursion, and the fire stick. Excellent cross-ventilation in the primary bedroom. Used AC in the smaller bedroom on some nights. Really nice and welcoming hosts.

Beautiful House for a Hawaiian Visit
Hale Wa'a was a great place for our family on our Hawaiian vacation. The location was perfect.... close to great beaches and activities while being in a quieter area that worked perfect for us! The house is well stocked with everything you'd need a host that responded quickly to any questions. Without a doubt, I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the island.

Myself, 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law went on an all family vacation-our first. We all had an amazing time. Our rental was excellent. Easy check in and easy check out. Whenever we inquired about anything it was promptly addressed. We took a side trip to Maui and he even suggested places to visit. We would definitely stay here again!

This is a gorgeous 2bd for anyone looking for a home to stay in Oahu. Loved the variety of board games that were provided! It's conveniently located in close proximity to Honolulu. I am always nervous booking a spot in a new location. My husband and I had never been to this island and had no idea where to stay. Not only was this such a great location, but Quentin was fantastic! The perfect home base for exploring O’ahu
Located in a quiet, safe, family neighborhood a short walk from the ocean, we absolutely loved the property and it’s location. I can’t say enough about the fabulous hosts, who were so incredibly helpful making most of our visit, even lending us snorkeling equipment and boogie boards. We loved being in such a calm neighborhood with an excellent grocery store close by, and yet easy access to all Honolulu has to offer. We’d get up early and just a ten minute drive South, be at one of our favorite scenic overlooks to watch the sunrise over the ocean (and returning here in the evening with our telescope for amazing star gazing), and we easily drove to the Northshore for daily outings. Clean, well stocked, and enough space for us to spread out, we will definitely be coming back!

A very safe location South of Honolulu
pros: You can be in and out of the city of Honolulu or Waikiki in 10-minutes by staying at this VRBO. We scheduled our activities around the rush hour traffic and had easy access thereafter. Quinten and his mother are wonderful hosts and there if you need them. Cons: I would agree with the other reviewer about the "walk to beach". This beach is narrow and gravely, and not very welcoming with all of the "Private Road" signs posted at the entranceway. An outsider wouldn't know whether it's safe and legal to enter via that roadway or not without guessing and taking the risk initially. This is also not the VRBO for anyone with mobility issues as the stairs to all of the bedrooms are steep, long, and narrow. Having said this our family of 3-adults found this VRBO to be comfortable enough for our needs and within the budget for our 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip to Oahu. Thank you Quinten.

Quiet Stay Close to Downtown
We stayed here a couple nights while visiting Pearl Harbor. It was the perfect amount of room for our family of 5 to stretch out. It was quiet, safe and a short drive to all downtown attractions.

Fantastic for exploring Oahu!
Great location in Diamondhead, lovely and responsive hosts, and a perfect stay. Having nice beach gear was a real game changer. We kept it in the car and were prepared to stop anywhere on our travels. The one note I would share is to skip the walkable beach and drive 5-10 mins to much better beaches but we have traveled the world with vacation rentals and this is now at the top of our list.

Quentin is a great host that is committed to delivering a wonderful experience. He quickly responded to any questions or needs. The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood with nearby access to grocery, restaurants, and of course world class beaches. Quentin’s property met our needs and helped make our stay enjoyable, comfortable, and relaxing. What else does one want from a vacation? I’d recommend this property to those with small families or couples that want to be outside the tourist area of Waikiki Beach and have rented a car to explore the island. We would stay here again. Supreme Hosts - Will Stay Here Again!!!
In town for my daughter’s wedding. Perfect location near a nice walkable beach, shopping, restaurants in Kaimuki plus home is appointed nicely! Owners Quinten and Elaine are very attentive to our every need yet not intrusive. One evening Quinten went over and above by providing several extra chairs for a Happy hour gathering that I hosted for other family members. The Local Snacks and coffee provided were much appreciated as well! Plenty of towels and beach towels. Plus there’s a stacked washer/dryer. TV offered all kinds of app channels. We unwound from daily activities with Netflix However, Me being old fashioned, missed having the network and local stations. We’ll definitely be back next time to Oahu!

Great property walking distance to the beach and very close to Waikiki
The property was very nice and clean. The location was perfect - if you go west you'll be in Waikiki and all of the urban happenings (Pearl Harbor, Diamondhead etc). If you head east you'll be outside all of that and have a string of beautiful beaches. And you can walk 5 minutes to the ocean. Quinten and Elaine are very nice hosts. Highly recommend the property!
