I had a fantastic time at Gwengo. The locations unbeatable, perhaps 5 minutes drive from the entrance gate of Hwange. The communications with them were already excellent even before my arrival. The staff answered all my questions promptly. The resort itself is well maintained and well staffed. In one area it has a terrace with a swimming pool, where you can chill and watch animals pass by. Loved the lodge with fantastic location right on the water hole. Only minor complaint was difficulty in booking game drives for 2 people. They have a 4 person minimum and will not help arrange pairing couples. Found a local place where we could book similar experiences for less, so wasn't a problem

The staff was so friendly and thoughtful. They went out of their way to make sure our anniversary was incredible. The owners even can and had dinner with us the night we arrived. Ngasha was an incredible hostess/bartender, chef Kevin was amazing in the presentation and quality and taste of food, Fortune our guide was incredible and very intelligent and resourceful. Victor was excellent too.

A beautiful spot with a watering hole just in front where elephants, buffalo, baboons and the occasional lion come to drink of an evening (while you dine outside overlooking this view). Game drives can start from the front of the lodge and the staff are hugely accommodating in making arrangements.
