Family of 4 stayed 1 night in 2 rooms. The rooms were clean and spacious, the air conditioning worked well and the beds were comfortable. One room had just a shower, the other had a bathtub/shower. The island is absolutely beautiful. A great location for families with or without kids. Highly recommended.

We were upgraded to a suite room in the Istra Suite building. The room was very spacious and clean and the sea views were fantastic. Hotel has a nice breakfast buffet with lot of variety and friendly service . The island and property is clean and well maintained and we wished we had planned to stay there longer. Parking and boat service on mainland is convenient.

We had the most amazing week here. Myself and my 16 year old son loved the pool and all the facilities by the sea. The water was crystal clear and the snorkelling was the highlight. The rooms were fairly small but had lovely comfortable beds. We would have liked tea and coffee making facilities though. The food was delicious and staff were excellent and friendly. We gad an absolutely terrific holiday. We will be back.

The hotel and surroundings are fantastic. The staff are very kind and professional. Keen to help and to go the extra mile! Food is good on the island, but there is also a ferry ( goes every hour) to take you to Rovinj and back. The Kids Club is friendly and lovely, and my children loved it.

Great location with good choice of different pools and beach sites , great breakfast - altough bigger choice of coffee would be nice . Easy to reach from Rovinj. Reception staff very kind and helpful, restaurant staff partly not flexible but also partly very kind.

Absolute heaven!
On reaching Pula airport - no local bus service, only infrequent private bus, or taxi. This would be off-putting if arriving late night. Short transfer into Pula but private bus does not stop at bus station - it takes you away past to the marine area. We were going to Rovinj so had to walk back quite a bit with our cases to get a bus from bus station. Bus ticket purchased inside - careful to check time of travel and which bus company. We got our first view of the arena as we walked back, standing magnificently above all else. Rovinj is a one hour journey - (buses charge 10Kn per bag of luggage) but overall journey not expensive. Rovinj is a port area. We found an information office (aka bicycle hire and room hire) in a small corner on way to seafront. When enquiring how to find our hotel we were shocked to discover the only access was by boat!! (Visions of trying to find and hire a boat to take us to the hotel struck horror within us) - and I will say it was an anxious time constantly asking where to get the boat but were finally told to look out for a big blue boat and there was an actual timetable posted up at the sea end of the pier. We had a lovely meal in Rovinj and set out to the harbour - it was hot - and there is no shelter. We must have just missed one because the boat sails every hour - and it seemed like an age before the big blue boat finally pulled in. Our anxiety disappeared as the name of the hotel appears on the boat - it belongs to the hotel!

Beautiful property. Booked quickly online very last minute after an overnight flight. Didn't realize it was on an island with a 15 minute ferry ride. Arrived tired in the dark but woke up to an amazing view. Wish we could of stayed longer.

This is a very nice hotel, in an island just 15 minutes away from Rovinj by boat. The hotel itself is nice and very comfortable, but not sumptuous and not needing to be. When you come to such a holiday, you don't need fancy things. The rest of the amenities are very good and diverse. You have spa, gym, indoor and outdoor swimming pools. We didn't visit the pools since the Croatian sea is just amazing, but clearly this a plus for some people as there were some that stayed there. The food in the hotel is tasty and varied enough, and we could always find something that we liked. We didn't try the other restaurants in the island as the one in the hotel was good enough for us. The staff was friendly and always helpful. Regarding the island itself, it is stunning, with plenty of nice hidden places and incredible fauna! The hotel makes sure to provide sufficient support to beach goers in the for of sunbeds and showers. The only downside, in our view, is the price. It's fair for what you get, but for the rate we got, we could have have stayed in the Maldives or Seychelles. That being said, if the price is not an issue for you and you've never been to Croatia, this is a very good starting point which will not disappoint you!

Hotel Istra Rovinj
The hotel is in an amazing location, and the bar staff are very efficient and friendly, however on checkout there was a problem with the bill where I had been over charged by some 750 euros, and the night porter was unable to rectify, he very aggressively demanded my card for payment which I refused, I suggested that the hotel email me the correct bill and I would pay it as they already had my card details as did the booking agent, when I tried to take my cases to the ferry shuttle, the night porter violently grabbed my arm and jostled me back into the hotel, which I regarded as an assault this was also in front of my 12 year old daughter which she found quite destressing, by this time another member of staff had arrived altered my bill to the correct amount and I settled the bill, I then had to travel back on the shuttle ferry with the night porter and on leaving the terminal, he then drove up behind us and starting verbally abusing myself and my daughter and making rude gestures, we were cornered for our safety, I have emailed the hotel and they called and apologised for his behaviour as did some other members of staff at the time, I am awaiting further contact from the hotel before I decide to try and press charges against the man, (I would prefer this not go public until I have tried to resolve the issues with the hotel and spoken to your own customer services)

So so
WiFi star dropping and it was unusable when hotel started to fill (in preseason), also AC didnt work (till May) although days were hot (27C+). Minibar in room didnt cool, drinks were warm. As we like daily country trips, getting to car is quite a challenge, halfn hour by ship (once per hour) and then they drove you to car so you can return to pick up the family and stuff.. if you tend to stay on island ( it is beautiful) and chill than this is not a big thing, if you are like us, get a hotel on shore. Also price a a bit high for offering

Five star location, four star facilities
Beautiful location on an island that is plenty big enough not to feel crowded. Lots of space to hide yourself away in a rocky cove, or sit by the pool if you prefer. Great fun snorkeling in crystal clear waters. Staff were very attentive and helpful, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Half board meals were plentiful with lots of choice to suit everyone although was a bit disappointing that we couldn't sit outside to eat in the evenings. Pool area was superb with lots of room to have fun with the kids and quite times too if you wanted to do lengths. Tiny niggles only regarding the room which was maybe not entirely spotless and the TV was small with a rubbish picture - not that it bothered me!

Beautiful hotel in the most gorgeous setting.
This Hotel is located in the most picturesque setting, the island is traffic free and so offers piece and quiet, yet only 15 minutes ferry from Rovinj, which runs every hour from 07.00 to 0.30 hrs daily. The Hotel and its grounds are set out beautifully. A lot of sun beds scattered around the grounds throughout the island, so you can find a very secluded place of your own and still swim off of the rocks. You can walk around the island and adjoining island in less than an hour. The views are simply breath taking. There is windsurfing and scuba. Diving on site both we used and are very good. The Hotel itself is of a high standard for a European 4 star. I am used to Caribbean standards but I was not disappointed. We had a suite which was wonderful and offered breakfast in a different area to the buffet in what was the Old Monastery with views over the Adriatic, it was the most beautiful setting. You wanted for nothing, service excellent. I cannot fault the place.

Excellent stay, Hotel rooms were basic and small for a 4 star hotel, Air con in rooms and public areas could be better. Staff services were very good (bar, catering,) Ferry service to mainland was very good, but more info should be provided by the hotel about drop off and pick up points. We travelled with friends and both had queries when booking out. Both parties were charged for several miniature bottles of Jack Daniels used from the mini bar. Neither of them drink Jack Daniels. One of the reception staff was not happy about removing the charges from the final Bill. If you use the mini bar note what you drink!

fantastic venue with all amenities
Hotel was very clean, efficient friendly staff nothing is too much trouble. It was my birthday whilst visiting and I returned to my room one day and found a bottle of wine with birthday greetings, such a pleasant surprise. I can't fault anything about my stay at all. Access to the town was a boat ride which ran on time and regular. The venue itself has a choice of bars and restaurants so you don't need to leave the island if you don't want too. Nature walks around the island are beautiful. There is something for everyone whether you enjoy sport or just want a rest. Overall I had a very nice relaxing experience and I would most certainly return. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Modern hotel on a beautiful island.
Facilities are good and varied. The setting is beautiful. Rovinj is a nice base. The hotel is good value in many ways. Minor issues: We booked a superior triple room, sea facing with one double and one single bed. On arrival we were allocated a room without any view at all and it turned out that in all triple rooms the third bed is a sofa bed (and quite a hard one). We moved to a room with a lovely sea view the next day, but the room description on Expedia could have been more accurate.

Really it was one of my worst stay, the bad story started from the beginning, when I checked in I informed the receptionist lady I booked two nights with different confirmation numbers, she asked for my passport to check, she gave me the electronic key, I used my room then I moved to downtown by boat since this is the only transportation way. I came back at 2:00 a.m to the boat same place they dropped me in the port to pick me up , but unfortunately I found the boat already left (this my mistake) but I contacted the receptionist by phone many times just to inform me how I can back to hotel but unfortunately no body pick up the phone up to 5:00 a.m, no answer there are nobody work at night !!! , I stayed all of my night sleeping on the port. First boat came at 5:30 , I want to my room, I pressed the non disturbing button and I slept at 6:00 a.m. I received call at 9:00 a.m from the receptionist and he said they observed on system I book two night and I will stay one more night is right ?(I already informed the receptionist when I checked in). I found my key just working for one day and the non disturbing button and AC turned of automatically, the housekeeping start Knocking the door each 10 minutes to clean the room. I was very exhausted no sleeping all of night and also day because of them, they spoil my time, I want to receptionist to reactivate my key. I spent my staying exhausted with no any activity, headache and lost my time and holidays

Wonderful comfortable stay
Amazing hotel, standard room size ok, bathroom nice, hot water great, nice restaurant with quality food and service, excellent finishing for the toom details, very convenient, only the ferry timing restrict your move after 1am to and from the Island,,, but all in all a PERFECT PLACE

Good location and facilities, mostly rude staff
Based on an island this hotel is large but with good facilities. Ensure you book dinner and well as breakfast as paying by the day for dinner is expensive by local standards. 480 kuna for myself and 2 small children. (One over 10). The food is expansive but repetitive. Free wine is offered with the meal which is ok. The best service at this hotel is the beach bar who make the best coffee, smile the most and who are efficient and professional... Not bad in 50 degree heat. With only 2 exceptions, the from desk staff are unremittingly rude. Phones are out down, information repeated as if one is deaf and every interaction is challenging. This came to ahead on my trip when I challenged the receptionist and recommended getting the manager. Thanks Vilma! Why are you and Luka so very rude and condescending? One (Ankita?) was rude & never just put the receiver down. Luka's view was that I should leave my room and come to speak with him face to face for any questions we called about (4 over 11 days.) We spent 3.5 hours waiting for a main course and pudding. We were served 1 drink 1.5 hours. This was in Cafe Allegra... Oh the irony. The covers were not full. When I raised this it was as if I had asked (after an hour and half) if there was a problem. "2 minutes!" was the reponse. Housekeeping & maintenance were great!!! But air con broke. I can see standards have been enforced here however the staffs unpleasant attitude belies a very disgruntled staff who dislike guests.

Nice but outdated
A nice island resort that tries to be 5 star but with 2 star service and questionable tactics. Have to pay for towels and sun loungers on the beach even though you are staying at the hotel. If they want to charge for these things they should add them into the hotel price so you dont feel like you are being charged every time you leave your room. The hotel is a little old but the spa facility is amazing and so is the restaurant attached to the chapel. Rooms are clean and the island itself is pretty amazing.

A balance of experiences at Hotel Istra
Overall we enjoyed our stay. We had a balance of experiences: -A few of the hotel staff were simply rude, however most were nice -Being on an island is a bit of a commitment, and during high season the line to get on the boat is a bit of a hassle. The island is kind of secluded and nice though. -The town is beautiful -Breakfast is excellent, and with a wonderful view -The hotel is nice and quiet, and we slept well there. -Drinks and food were affordable, albeit higher prices than on the mainland

Good hotel for the price, perfect for a relaxe and quite stay, the swimming was amazing. Some employees were amazing, some less nice, but overall it was great !

Relaxing, beautiful hotel, great staff
My friends and I stayed at the hotel for a week at beginning of June. We were so pleased with our room, it was bright and clean with a great sea view. Staff were lovely and there is a relaxing feel to the hotel. Very very clean and comfortable hotel, I want to go back aleady! The boat service to the mainland is ideal.

Island hotel
The location of this hotel is amazing - on an island just 15 mins by boat from the beautiful town of Rovinj. The hotel is a little shabby in places but this is made up for by the peaceful location. It really feels like you are getting away from everything.Breakfast is good but reception staff could be a lot more friendly and helpful.

Relaxing hotel
No rushing to reserve your sun bed here! Lovely relaxing hotel, good for adults but would not recommend for families with young children as there is no beach as such. Mostly rocky and shingles. Enjoyable ferry service to mainland and this is free if you are a guest at the hotel. Can't comment on food other than breakfast, which had the usual choices. Rovinj has many good restaurants so bed ab breakfast option is ideal if you want to experience local food.
