"We stayed 5 nights... the location is good, but not superb. If you like to walk (we do), it's perfect... otherwise you'll be riding the bus to get to a train station. We walked most days to EMMACHI JR station and then connected to subway lines downtown - a 15min walk with kids. If you're headed to Arishiyama, EMMACHI or the green JR line both work with a short walk. Local markets around hotel are ok... but closest proper grocery store only opens at 10am and is pretty small. "It is a perfect Japanese style self-catering inn. A good price, no hustle, good location. Inexpensive, clean bath, and you get a traditional Japanese flavour. Only the map which is provided is old and frankly totally wrong. The police officer in the neighbourhood could not tell from the provided map where it was. Having said that it was perfect for four of us."
