Find hotels in Kastanea from $53

The best area to stay in Kastanea for most visitors is the central village itself, particularly around the main square.

This area is the heart of Kastanea, featuring traditional stone houses and narrow, winding streets. The main square is easily recognizable by its large plane tree and the Church of Agios Nikolaos. It's where you'll find the majority of the village's tavernas and cafes. Couples will appreciate the relaxed pace and the opportunity to experience authentic village life.

For those seeking a more secluded and tranquil experience, the outskirts of the village, particularly areas slightly uphill, offer accommodations with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The best time to go to Kastanea is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is mild and pleasant.

During these months, you'll experience comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, such as hiking the trails around Lake Plastiras or visiting the nearby monasteries. The countryside is particularly scenic in spring with blooming wildflowers and in autumn with changing foliage, offering excellent opportunities for photography and outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds.

For those who enjoy cooler weather and winter sports, the winter months (December to March) can also be a good choice, especially if you plan to visit the ski resorts in the Pindus mountains.
