Remote and Spectacular
If you have a car rented on Lipari, and you enjoy feeling like you're miles away from anywhere, this is the spot for you. It's exactly why we booked it, and it was exactly what we expected. This remote villa is not easily accessed DIRECTLY by car. Very narrow roads to get to the parking area, which is a 3 minute walk down a rugged stone path that is somewhat steep, to access the property. It IS possible to drive down the path. (Whether or not you can drive back up it is based on your car's power & tire quality, your skill as a driver, and the weather conditions!) Keep this in mind as you consider your luggage, whether you'll be cooking and carrying groceries down that path to the villa, etc. It requires extra effort to stay here. But sitting on the terrace overlooking the ocean thousands of feet below, you may never want to leave! The house is photographed exceptionally well in the ad. In reality, it is a rustic concrete structure set into the hillside. It is not modern or technologically sophisticated. The bedroom on the top floor is air conditioned, but the rest of the home is not. The bottom floor consists of two totally separate, self-catering apartments with a bedroom and bathroom in the back, and kitchenette and single bed/couch in the front. Opening front and back doors to these units provides a breeze to flow through, but the back doors do not keep out the rain if it rains, so you'll have to close them (and thus cut off your breeze) in inclement weather. The lower terrace cover leaks during rains, don't leave anything out! The main kitchen is appointed for basic cooking. There is a fully-stocked grocery store between Pianoconte and Quattropani with everything you need. For those who don't wish to cook, there is an exceptional pizzeria/restaurant down in Quattropani just a few minutes' drive. As a chef, I was impressed by both of our meals there. The older gentleman who greeted us at the port, Pino, was informative, and a good resource about how the house functions because he built it himself. We communicated with him almost exclusively in Italian, as we had 2 fluent speakers in our group. A typical Sicilian, he tried to woo both of the ladies (mother and daughter) in our group. He also arrived unannounced the day before we departed to see if we were ok. Only the ladies were home that day, which was a surprise to them, slightly uncomfortable. This was a memorable home that I would rent again without hesitation.

Relaxed and remote, perfect for unplugging from the world
We enjoyed our stay in Lipari. This house sits on the west side of the island in Quattropani, so you will need to get comfortable driving around the island unless you bring everything in with you and want to eat all your meals at the house. We traveled with our 3 young children, and they were comfortable and happy in the house and wide open space around it. The caretaker is a kind man who provided a high chair and a crib for our baby, and offered to bring dinner to us on two occasions. The rooms were clean and bright, and the grounds were immaculate. The dishwasher and washing machine worked well, water was hot and pressure good. It is very quiet until morning when the rooster next door crows loudly. The house is about 1/4 mile from the road, so we took a headlamp and flashlight with us if we were going out for the evening. The caretaker only speaks Italian, so we had to get creative when communicating with him, but he was patient. The agency was rather unresponsive while we were on the island, preferring to defer to the caretaker, which was frustrating when we couldn't find him at the hydrofoil. Please note there are no car ferries during the summer months. Overall, lovely experience, very relaxing.

Dear guest, thank you for your nice review. We are happy to know you stayed well at the villa. At the same time, we are astonished to read we were unresponsive as we are always ready to reply and help our guests. I am sorry if you were wrong and wrote us when you arrived instead to write the caretaker as indicated in our instructions... We weren't at the office for the lunch break (1 hour) and when we got your emails we already knew you had arrived to the villa.

Quiet, Remote, Beautiful
This is a very cute, remote, two-story, 3-unit villa in Quatropani. For those looking to be away from it all, it is quiet and very secluded, with very few neighbors, with the most action being the nightly sunset watchers at Chiesa Vecchia just down the street. The agent, Francesco, was very helpful and responsive from booking all the way to helping solve minor on-site issues. The local caretaker, Giuseppe, is very friendly and always willing to help out. The owner is very nice and seems to take pride in his home with a combination of rustic charm and modern finishes for decor. Bring your own wifi hotspot (you can rent from major car rental companies in Catania) as the wifi in the house isn't reliable. Cable and Satellite TV worked well, despite having to re-boot the box each time. Kitchen is fully functional, but ask to ensure that the propane gas has been filled. Only a 4x4 vehicle should use the unpaved road leading to the house, otherwise park by the church and walk down to the villa (two minutes walk). Power can go out, which is typical, but it's easy to turn it back on from the main road. Views are stunning, and the property is large and very private. Primarily outdoor living, but the upstarirs main villa is equipped with a somewhat modern living room with comfortable couches and TV. Laundry machine worked well. You must stock everything yourself (soaps, olive oil, everything). Closest beach is Aquacalda 5 KM away. Outdoor shower is amazing with views of Stromboli as well. Overall a very charming house, good for small group or couple - couldn't ask for better communication between agent/caretaker/and the owner. Overall, for a house in the hills its perfect. We are beach people, and had no issue packing up the car every morning and driving to the beaches, and then spending the remains of the day at the house over wine and snacks. Drive to town is about 25 mins, restaurants and grocery stores are on the way up/down.

Ruhige Oase

Grazie ancora e a presto.

Splendida Villa con panorama da sogno. Indimenticabile !!!

Esperienza meravigliosa in Villa incantevole !!!

Incredible great holiday
The complete stay, from the beginning and the communications with the agent to our stay there and the help from lovely locals, to the obviously magnificant view, has been a full success. It was really great to get so much help in advance with anything from possible ferry schedules to where it would be best to rent a car. The house itself is really beautiful. From having the constant breathtaking view from around basically everywhere, the silence (with the occasional singing from a distant neighbor working in the garden :) ), the smell of herbs of a summer in Italy to the cozyness of the furniture, it all comes well together. Its also important to mention, that a lot of the basics like salt, pepper, oil etc. have already been in the house, something which is unfortunately not granted in other appartements. The house is also big, with 1 big and two smaller, almost self-sufficient appartments. A special mention is needed for the person who welcomed us and was looking after us during our stay on the island. He is really a great guy and always tried to help the best he can without being pushy or anything like that. Thanks Bino! All of the five people coming here loved it and would definitely consider coming back!
