Good location

Posted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: Location and friendliness of staff
Cons: The shower head is too closed to the wall. When taking a shower, only half of the body can be covered by water!
Location: Near tube station and Tower of London.
Overall, the location, the condition and services are good.

Great for business travelers; near Tower Bridge

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: The restaurant food is extremely good, very well done traditional British fare. Comfy bedding. Decent tv. Nice bathrobe. Good bar.
Cons: Leave the A/C running at night when it's really hot in summer; fans alone are not enough. Brighten the lighting in the rooms.
Location: Can walk to London Tower, Tower Bridge, Fenchurch Street Station and Liverpool Street (fun/funky shopping). Highly recommend the on/off river cruises.
This is my 3rd stay, combining business and leisure. Location was perfect for me (walking distance to Fenchurch Station, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, and a few decent pubs (including in the hotel). This is not really a nightlife area. During the week there are a few nice restaurants in walking distance but it shuts down dark after about 9 pm, even earlier on weekends (there is no place really close for late Sunday night dinner except in the hotel itself). The bedding in the room is nice, this bed was more comfy than on my last visit. Decently appointed decor in the room although rather dark; lighting was lamps primarily, so the room was rarely very bright except in the morning if it was sunny out and the curtains were open. I like lots of light. Very deep bathtub; nice for a long soak but takes effort to get in and out. Very important: this hotel shuts off its A/C between midnight and 6 pm. Fan still runs, but on the rare warm summer days, the inside temps can get toasty and stuffy. We were able to crack open a window so we were okay but others traveling with us were not so fortunate.

Convenient location

Posted Jul 18, 2015
Pros: The front-desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes close-by.
Cons: Breakfast included in the price would be a welcome bonus.
Location: Excellent access to the underground system. The Tower is within walking distance, most museums can be reached in 30 minutes or less.
We were pleased about the location (within walking distance of 3 underground stations and the Tower of London). The hotel is well managed, rooms are clean, comfortable and of reasonable size.

Schönes Hotel in der Nähe des Towers of London

Posted Jul 8, 2015

City centre but quiet street.

Posted Jul 8, 2015
Found this hotel excellent value for London in July. We were going to Wimbledon so proximity to Aldgate was great. The hotel is an easy bag-pull from Aldgate. There are late-opening Tesco and Sainsbury grocery stores nearby. Our room was tastefully modernised although could have had more storage. It overlooked the street but was not affected by street noise. The pub was a welcome facility providing food until 10pm. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation.

Great hotel near Tower Hill tube

Posted Jul 5, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff. Free London Pride beer and water in room was nice touch.
Cons: Pillows with different heights would be great. My dodgy neck needs a very low pillow. Just used the throw cushions which worked fine.
Location: Hotel pub looked good. Minories pub nearby showed sport and good selection of beers. Easy walk to St Kaths dock and across Tower Bridge.
Used as base for the Comedy Store in town, Wimbledon another day and city tours (incl. BBC) another. Good location. Great weather too... :o)
