We love staying in the national park. Big Meadows is easy to walk to restaurant and tap room. The rooms are comfortable in the lodge.

Delicious plentiful food, all staff friendly
The food was excellent--well prepared, surprisingly large quantities and a good selection of options. Unfortunately, the main dining room was quite cool in the evening which meant that I did not enjoy the meal as much as I could have. I noted that the overhead fans were going full force and there was no fire in the fireplace while the outside temperatures were dropping into the 50's and 40's rapidly. Staff in the dining hall and check in were friendly and efficient--a real plus.

Even though it rained nonstop, we enjoyed ourselves. Our room was clean, large, comfortable, and had a great balcony (that we still used, even with the rain). The dining options at the main lodge served really great food! Great beer selection too. We want to come back again.....when it's sunny and dry!

Big Meadows Lodge is in a fantastic setting in Shenandoah. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is not luxurious but very comfortable and clean. The rooms could use some refurbishing, the bathroom fixtures are a little dated but the nearby hiking and vistas are tremendous. Good food and dog friendly on the patio. Overall really liked it!

The room was nice, there was a draft coming from the windows but you kinda expect that when you stay at an old lodge. Everything was clean and good condition. The water pressure could’ve been better, no way I could’ve washed/rinsed my hair but there was plenty of hot water.

The lodge was a neat vintage building. Great brews in the lower level and great view of the valley. Bar food really very good. The food at the restaurant upstairs was decent. Amazing place to watch the sunset from the rocking chairs and balcony. And the only place we could get wifi. Our room was very rustic. No A/C, no cell service. It was clean enough - felt like we were camping. The location was great though!

The Blue Ridge Parkway and its surroundings and history are all right there at Big Meadows. A ton of hiking options, a great restaurant and beauty everywhere.

For us, it was a wonderful stay. We loved the history and staying in a beautiful national park. The food and drink in the restaurants was high quality. The gift stores had great merchandise, and prices were reasonable. The Skyline Drive to get to the lodge was amazing. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The trails we took were clearly marked and maintained. However, while we loved it, it may not be right for everyone. Don't expect a luxury hotel. Our room was like a cabin, and was a short walk from the lodge. The cabin and the bathroom were clean and had everything we needed, but it is on the old side. The wood walls of the cabin had a musty smell (which a simple air freshener helped with). Also be aware that from the park entrance to the lodge is a 30 minute drive, just something you should be aware of. But what a beautiful drive it is. We really did love it, and have talked about returning.

Great property, but like all national parks the accommodation has suffered from lack of investment. It's clean and comfortable but tiles are cracked and outside the property there is a lack of maintenance

I love the location in nature. Serene and uplifting. The Big Meadows Lodge was easy to get to and the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The food was good. Entertainment fun! I especially liked the outdoor seating at my cabin. The only thing I would say could be improved would be the lighting on the way back to the cabin after dark. I'm a bit older and I worried about falling. Overall though a great place!

This facility is old, substandard, and grossly in need of renovation. I reserved a king-size bed in a room with a view of he Shenandoah Valley. We received the cheapest and oldest room with two awful double beds and no view. TERRIBLE. Even the TV had very limited channels with no news or weather. TERRIBLE. We deserve a complete refund!!

This park is beautiful! The view from our balcony was amazing. We didn't have power for about 24hrs due to a storm, but we made due. The only negative thing really was the lodges dining hall. Food wasn't very good and very overpriced.

Felt very rustic. Could use a few updates. Our bathroom door wouldn't close. Tub dripped constantly. Did like the attempt to be green with timer in shower, recycle bin, and reminder about re-using towels. Overall it was very nice. Beautiful location, close to everything we wanted to do (hiking).

Really liked our stay!!
We really liked Big Meadow Lodge. Staff was great, food was very good, and the location cannot be beat!! Just needs some upgrades to the rooms, particularly the bathrooms and balconies. We will definitely come back here on our next visit though.

No Wi-Fi in my room. The room is tired looking. I have stayed numerous times at the Mt Pisgah Inn on the BRP. Big Meadows acomdations and restaurant cannot compare to the Pisgah Inn. You need to improve on the setting. It is second rate.

Great place in an amazing location. Nice friendly atmosphere in the main building of the lodge. Excellent dinner at the restaurant on the premises. Nice rooms and patios and terrace. We stayed one night in a basic room and the second night in an upgraded room. It was a big storm in the afternoon before our second night’s stay which brought the power down; therefore, we did not have electricity. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay and the large window allowed us to observe a beautiful sunset show.

Beautiful area but no electricity due to storm
Beautiful location and good facilities but we were left without electricity in the room after a storm (even though the central building and restaurant still has electricity). Thankfully we could still get food at the restaurant but all the food we had brought and stored in the mini fridge was ruined. Not sure it has something to do with this but also there was no hot water in the shower. There was no communication about it either, just "there is nothing we can do about it". There was no offer to provide cold space for food or medicine or information on timeline when it might be back. Food (dinner) was not great either despite restaurant level prices, especially the turkey.

The staff at the front desk were not accommodating to our request for early check in, even though rooms were clearly available. I had explained that it was our 25th anniversary and there were no efforts to get us into a room earlier than 4pm on our check in day. Room smelled like bleach and the floor was dirty, comforter was filthy. Not going back.

The Lodge was a beautiful stay. It was clean, unique, easy to get to in the National park, with great views. The beer available in the taproom was local and delicious! We would recommend planning your own food as the lodge’s food was a bit pricy for the quality. Overall though, highly recommend!
