Great spot to rest
The teepee idea was really cool. I like the layout and theme. It is in the woods. I saw a couple of reviews that complained about the mildew smell. It was not bad, especially considering that this is not a hotel and is in the woods in the humid South. Just open the flap and let it air out. While I did not need to cook, the kitchen and stove were really cool. I did catch a few fish in the pond in the evening. I'd do this again. I've had several folks comment that they were jealous and one friend who wants to set up a few of those in NC.

Mildew/Mold
After reading the reviews for this property, my friend and I were hesitant to book. However, we consider ourselves adventurous, spend tons of time outdoors and tent camp often. So, we thought it probably wasn’t as bad as some reviews suggested. A day before checking in, I reached out to the host about standard check in questions. Angela, the host, responded very quickly and answered all the questions. We were excited! We get to the property and immediately were hesitant because of junk being piled near our tipi. But hey, everyone has junk so whatever. The tipi looked huge upon arriving, there were chairs for sitting outside, and a hammock. Looked nice. We get our bags and walked in. Mildew and mold instantly hit us. The tipi cloth was covered in mold. There were bees the size of a thumb (not joking). My friend is highly allergic to mold so we knew we couldn’t stay. We left and luckily found a hotel. I will say the bathroom and shower outhouse looked fine. We weren’t mad, but I did message the host to explain we weren’t staying due to mold. I didn’t expect a refund, but I did ask if she would consider even a partial refund. With that being said, I wouldn’t have been upset if she said no to the refund. I’ve worked in hospitality and I get it. However, she never messaged back which did upset me. You could at least acknowledge the message. Anyways, I do not recommend this property at all.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!
The property is not at all like what the listing photos make it seem. The pictures that are posted to the VRBO site are beyond deceptive and misleading. The actual property can only be properly described as a dump. When we got to the property where we were supposed to stay, what we found was straight out of a horror film. Not only was the bed not made but the bed linens were tossed in a massive heap on the bed. We both almost had a heart attack because it appeared as though the pile of blankets and sheets was a human being sleeping in the bed. To make matters worse, there were half-drunken beer bottles and cans sprawled across the room as though somebody had just hosted a bachelor party there. The place was a mess and we were both fully convinced that someone was staying there and could return at any moment. Afraid for our lives, we figured that we would be better off getting out of there immediately so we went to the car and did just that. With no place to spend the night, we drove around town for approximately an hour and a half trying to find a hotel with vacancy but unfortunately had no such luck. We must have checked ten or so hotels before we ultimately had to quit the search and return home to Richmond, VA. After an approximately two and a half hour drive, we finally got home at about 5:30 AM the next day. I will be seeking a full refund and, if I do not get it, I will never be booking with VRBO ever again and I will be sure to spread the word to family and friends to make sure that none of them do either because they do not deserve to experience what we have.

Great outdoor getaway
I was looking for a little couples getaway spot in nature and this was just that. The lodging was so cute and we had fun setting up a fire and cooking (and roasting marshmallows of course). Yes there are bugs and weather can be tricky, but it was nothing we didn’t already expect and come prepared for in an outdoor-based stay. Thanks for having us, oh and the animals on the property were just the sweetest!

Definitely not what we were expecting.
It’s definitely an outdoor experience. There was no way to actually close the doors, anyone can walk in them. Once we arrived we noticed the Tipis hadn’t been cleaned at all, water in the bucket under the sink had been there forever, there was trash all over the place outside. It’s definitely not a glamping experience. We make due and have a good time anywhere we go, but we can check this one of the list.
