The hotel is in a houtong neighbourhood with lots going on, and is a great base from which to visit the rest of Beijing with a subway less than 10mins away. The staff were incredibly welcoming, personable and friendly throughout the stay and always on hand if you need them. The room was spacious, comfortable, had a good shower and the ability to sit on your own terrace overlooking the quiet courtyard each morning was excellent. Breakfast was available each morning, with a broad selection for all tastes - the soups were delicious. The place was kept incredibly clean with daily housekeeping and the staff took real care to protect the historic building, I’d also highly recommend the airport transfer which was seamless for a first time Beijing visitor. I’d highly recommend this hotel for a more traditional Beijing accommodation with a lot of heart.

We stayed at this character filled hotel for 2 nights and it was wonderful. Julia on the front desk helped us with checking in a little earlier and stowing our cases beforehand. Rose was also helpful on the front desk and Robin went above and beyond in the hospitality area. The breakfast was lovely, bathroom great and having a terrace to retire to at the end of the day was lovely too! Thoroughly recommend.
