“This is an absolutely beautiful spot—the home was welcoming, beautiful and comfortable. The area very peaceful and enjoyable. Everything one could wish for both inside and outside was provided. The boat dock very nicely accommodated our boat. Very happy we had the opportunity to enjoy a week at this place. ”

“The lake front cabin is just as described and very private for a relaxing vacation. Plenty of room for all of us. Having a door to separate the 2 spaces gave the kids one half of the house and we utilized the loft with the large bathroom on the other side which made it more private and had the lake view. We used the dock and kayaks every day and fished and swam as the weather was perfect. We definitely recommend this property and will book again in the future!”

“We initially chose this property because it was a halfway meeting point for three couples. The accommodations exceeded expectations. The layout of the living room and kitchen provided a nice flow for all to hangout. We brought kayaks and bikes and spent time exploring the river as well as the local trails. We even brought our cat who enjoyed sitting on the porch and window sills. The only thing we wish we could change was the size of the two first floor bedrooms. A little small but not a deal...

“Very private and clean…great spaces with huge yard and a lot of outside seating. Very well stocked and very comfortable. Kati was very responsive on small issue that was resolved. Centrally located for us and easy to get everywhere easily. ”

“This was a great few days for my family and I celebrating a VT graduation. Beautiful home, and a really cool location. The town has an awesome shop with a cafe super close. The host was attentive and friendly. Would recommend!”

“We stayed at the home while getting our son settled in as a freshman at Virginia Tech and also spent some time enjoying the area. It's an older building in a rustic setting, but the home has been updated and we found it to be clean and comfortable. The nearby creek is lovely. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.”

“We stayed in this rental for my daughter’s Virginia Tech graduation. I’m 100% going to come back. The property was beautiful, comfortable, and well appointed. The owners were super responsive, kind, and attentive. I only wish we hadn’t been running the roads back and forth to Blacksburg because it was entirely relaxing to sit out and enjoy the creek. We loved our stay and look forward to returning.”

“This was an unbelievable home for our large family vacation! There were games to be played on the lake, games in the house, beautiful views and an incredibly well stocked kitchen. The beds were so comfortable!The lake had life jackets for anyone who wanted one, soccer balls, paddle boats and kayaks. I could go on and on. We went on a few hiking and boating excursions, (beautiful), but really felt that we could have just stayed at the cottage all day every day because Avonlea Cottage has it all!...

“The place is totally awesome. My family of 10 came in for a wedding from Alabama & Pennsylvania . It had well enough bedding and very large open kitchen with living room concept for all of us to be together. The house her been recently renovated and has beautiful colors and very large bathrooms . My grandkids were able to play in the creek that was in the backyard . We are coming back for another family wedding in October and will definitely try to get the house again.”

“Lakewood Lodge is the perfect getaway. They cabin was spotless and so comfy! All essentials were provided and Michelle was great to deal with. We especially loved sitting out on the deck in the evenings watching the deer and fireflies. I highly recommend!!”

“This cabin was absolutely perfect for our family! The property is so beautiful and private. We were there for my daughter's graduation from Virginia Tech. I only wish we had a little more time to relax by the firepit and enjoy the soothing sounds of the stream that runs along the property.”
