Love the location, pool, spa and roomy rooms.Posted Nov 29, 2015
Location: Close to everything.
Used the warm pool and spa in the morning. Had three rooms in the 700 bldg. Could not have been more quiet. Very close to everything. Great hiking trail and views.

Great pool and nice breakfast, outdated poolPosted Oct 29, 2015
Pros: good location for our trip, but far from the beaches.
Cons: Update rooms and better sheets and bedspreads. Leave coffee out for the buffet and all condiments.
Location: Not much nearby since this is in a secluded area up the hill. You will need to get in your car to travel to beach or restaurants.
We stayed here for a baseball tournament and spent very little time at the hotel. We were able to have 15 minutes in the hot tub before the closing at 11pm. The hotel staff was very nice in how they asked us to leave at 11 and impressed with the good attitude. The room was very dark and dated in the decor. Heavy comforter too much for early fall weather. Roomed smelled musty, but was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was great and price was fair at about $15 per person. However you had to ask for coffee and ketchup and butter from the server. Felt like they should just leave this out for us to enjoy and not have to wait to ask for.

Not what it looks like!Posted Sep 28, 2015
The photos looked amazing and I was definitely surprised when I arrived. The rooms and buildings were very dated. The room was dark and very noisy. We could hear every footstep above us sound like an elephant walking. We could hear every toilet flush, fan going, shower running. The acoustics were awful. Then there was the clientele who came in loudly late at night, sat outside and talked as if no one was trying to sleep. I slept very little there and am paying for it. The breakfast was buffet style and seriously needs an upgrade. Pastries were stale and prepared en masse. The best part was the omelet made to order. Over-priced. I would say this place could be awesome if more care was put into it- it has such potential! I did enjoy the nature trail, beautiful!

4 star? I don't think so.Posted Sep 21, 2015
The room was tiny and the food was awful. It took us a full hour to get our food and when it finally came out it was severely over cooked.

You are paying for the service and view.Posted Sep 16, 2015
Pros: The view. The staff. The service. The food. The grounds. All very very good.
Cons: Too bad the lodging itself does not keep up with the rest of hotel
Location: The hotel sits it the hills above Santa Cruz. Majestic view. Not far from Capitola and downtown Santa Cruz.
You are not paying for the room. When the caulking and fixtures are better in your own house then you expect a 99 dollar room not a 300 dollar room. The grounds and service are great. Food is excellent. But management is not paying to keep the rooms state of art and as clean as you would want for a hotel this price. Carpets in hallways were dirty, room carpet was near end of useful life, and bathroom caulking was old and dirty. For the price and location, this room should have had a high end laminate floor, clean white caulking, and brighter lights. You could not read with the dull lighting in the room and in lamps. And on first floor the sliding glass door has no locks. No way to leave slider open a bit for fresh air with no fear of theft.

Overpriced for quality of the room.Posted Sep 14, 2015
Pros: The woodsy feel.
Cons: More light! Both colors and more light bulbs in rooms.
Location: We were there for a specific occasion; not exploring. We did enjoy a fantastic dinner at La Posta in town.
We were disappointed in the quality we received for the price we paid. Our room was extremely dark and tired looking. The noise from the upstairs room was unacceptable from a property like this. We felt the entire place needs a facelift. Perhaps the reason they can charge the higher prices is that there are so few top-rate hotels in the area.

Forest GetawayPosted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: Close to town yet away from it at the same time.
Cons: Pool should be freshwater and a breakfast would be nice. Better patio/outdoor furniture would be good
Location: Mystery Spot, Beaches, Boardwalk Lots of shops downtown and restaurants
Pulled into driveway and was greeted by a Deer and then all of the trees and open space made this a very relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Santa Cruz.

Expensive for a tired and worn facilityPosted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: The setting is very nice
Cons: It really needs an upgrade - everything looks shabby, inside and out. Also the Sunday morning breakfast was horrible.
Location: The location is good. Nice quiet setting close to Santa Cruz.
Room and facilities are tired and worn. Could really use an upgrade. Sunday breakfast was a very limited buffet set up in a conference room. Not what I expected for the price.
