## Emplacement
At the heart of the Occitanie region, only ten kilometers from the Mediterranean, unveils Montpellier, the capital of Languedoc, and its rich heritage which was awarded by the label City and Country of Art and History in 2019.
To start your discovery of the place, head towards the highest point of Montpellier, with the famous promenade of Peyrou, a haven of peace appreciated by the people of Montpellier. Terraced gardens suitable for strolling were installed at the end of the 17th century, offering fans incredible perspectives. From the upper terrace, where a very beautiful water tower and an equestrian statue of Louis XIV rise, you will have a superb view over the rooftops of the city, the surrounding scrubland, the Saint-Loup peak, the Cévennes or even the Pyrenees on clear days!
A 5-minute walk from the square, you can visit one of the most renowned cultural sites in Montpellier: the prestigious Fabre museum. Its collections of ancient, modern and contemporary paintings make it one of the most important museums in Europe. Linger in the Galerie des Colonnes, undoubtedly one of the most majestic rooms on the ancient route, which offers through its large formats a remarkable panorama of history painting in the 18th century.
Further to the east, towards the banks of the Lez, you will access a modern district characterized by its neoclassical style, that of Antigone, designed by the Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill. Seen from the sky, this atypical ensemble, which extends over 900 meters long, is reminiscent of the shape of a key. Explore its futuristic universe and discover its most beautiful places such as the Golden Number, with its water jets, that of Thessaly, with its magnificent fountain reminiscent of ancient Greece, or that of Europe with its arched architecture and lawns inviting relaxation.
