This property was perfect for our needs, working at a conference in the city. We arrived 9pm and left early both days, so just needed a place to sleep. Private carpark round the rear of property. Close to metro (tram) stop and an easy 20 minutes by car from the city centre (less for Salford Quays or Old Trafford). Apart from check-in we never saw anyone during our weekend stay. Host was contactable by mobile if we needed (which we didn't). Self service breakfast provided (cereals) as under new management so the kitchen was not up and running for serving breakfast. Totally silent at night, so we slept really well. Comfortable temperature all night on a very stormy wet weekend. Would definitely stay again if working an event in Manchester.

Here's an interesting thing. Looks like a circular sheep pen made from dry stone walls split by two chunky and smooth wooden kissing styles. It is a viewing point with about a dozen holes through the top stones aligned to frame landmarks on the 360 degree horizon, with lovely industrial looking metal 'eyepieces' bearing the names of what you are looking it. Tegg's Nose hill is the site of a disused quarry that operated from the 16th century until 1955.

This amazing Victorian garden was created by James Bateman for his collection of plants from around the world. A visit takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen. The garden features collections of rhododendrons, summer bedding displays, a stunning Dahlia Walk in late summer and the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain, brought from China in the 1850s. The Geological Gallery shows how Bateman's interests went beyond botany. Opened in 1862 the unique hallway is a Victorian attempt to reconcile geology and theology. There are narrow gravel paths and over 400 steps throughout the garden.
