We’re sorry about the bathrooms and supplies - our normal housekeeper was away and we had a stand-in, so it is disappointing that our normal very high standard was not maintained but thank you for letting us know so that we can pass this on. Unfortunately the couple who ran the little village Spar and Post Office have just retired and it is much missed by everyone. Although there is a great farm shop on the other side of the bridge, it is really just for food supplies and not essential grocery items. We are hopeful the Spar and Post Office will re-open soon! The towels are difficult - we did at one point leave out bath and hand towels for every guest - so sometimes 24 towels per week - but we often found they were not used, but of course still had to be laundered before the next guests, which we felt was quite wasteful. We do specify on the VRBO website what towels we provide and of course the washing machine and tumble dryer are available should you feel you want to refresh them during your stay. However, we do take on board your comment and we will give consideration as to whether we should review our policy in this regard.

I don’t think that in our 115 reviews we have ever had an adverse comment on the beds and, in fact, many guests have positively mentioned how comfy they are, so I’m sorry if you did not find them to be so. That said, we are staying at the house ourselves at the moment and have noticed that a couple of springs in the mattress in the master bedroom appear to have collapsed on the right hand side, so we have ordered a new mattress to replace it. With regard to the cleanliness, we absolutely agree that this is the highest priority in any rental property, particularly with Covid still around, and we sincerely apologise that you found a pill under a cabinet. Our regular housekeeper was on holiday herself for two weeks and she had arranged a replacement cleaner to come in for the 3 Saturdays that she was away in July. We are really sorry if the replacement cleaner has not maintained the very high standards of our usual housekeeper and we will certainly ensure that she is not asked to cover in future. I hope you will see from previous reviews that many guests have commented on how clean the house is, and this has been an unfortunate blip, which we are sure will not be repeated.

Thank you for taking the time to review. Our own boys loved the garden when they were little - building dens in the woodland and playing hide and seek - so we’re glad yours did too! Also glad you found the bedrooms comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. We try to think of everything that we like to have in our kitchen at home and replicate it in our holiday house.

Thank you very much for phoning to alert us to these problems and I’m glad that we were able to get the back-up/overflow fridge working for you for the weekend. We have now had the main fridge, the shower head and the ceiling lights repaired and we’re sorry again for any inconvenience these caused and glad they didn’t spoil your stay.
