Hotel Close To Manhattan

Posted May 15, 2017
Pros: Affordable and very near #7 train to and from Manhattan.
Location: Queens mall and those in Manhattan are both accessible from Days Inn
Hotels & parking in Manhattan are expensive. Days Inn is by the #7 train to & from Manhattan. It has a free small parking lot so it is first come first served. However, street parking is free from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The room we had is not as spacious compared to those in Florida but understandable NY being limited in land space. Breakfast is free and front desk people are helpful especially George who went outside with us to show where to turn to go to the other side to park. Wi-fi is free but like other public places, it is not secure.

OK room, but very negative experience with staff

Posted Apr 23, 2017
Pros: The bed was reasonably comfortable. The shower was clean. Short walk to subway.
Cons: Everything else. The management staff, the sustainability policies, the soundproofing, the customer service...
Location: This was the best thing about the hotel: lots of things to do outside the hotel. Lots of good food options, conveniently close to subway.
If you're looking for an inexpensive room close to a metro stop in Queens, then this isn't the worst choice of a hotel. The room was fine, there was a free continental breakfast, and there was free, though limited, parking. With that said, the staff were absurdly out of their element. As an example, just three nights ago I was awoken at 3 AM by one of the managers of this hotel. I was told that a guest in the room next door to mine had complained of another guest slamming doors loudly. Because mine was the only room nearby that was occupied, I was told I had to be the one slamming my door, so I was asked to stop. This was clearly impossible as I'd been asleep. The manager insisted that I stop slamming my door and hung up the phone. Half an hour later I was awoken by the guest who had complained, and this guest proceeded to threaten me with police action if I didn't stop slamming my door. I then went to the front desk and let the manager know I'd been threatened. To his credit, the manager called the complaining guest and told him not to threaten me. Then the manager--still on the phone with the complainant--asked me if I had a girl in my room. I traveled alone, and I reminded the manager I'd been asleep. Apparently, the manager had confused me with a different male guest on the same floor and, after the complainant made his complaint, the manager must have told him what room I was in. I then asked for a refund just for the night, based on this treatment, but was refused.

A place to crash for one night

Posted Dec 26, 2016
Receptionists are extremely nice and helpful. The housekeepers talk loud early in the morning and smash doors deliberately. I guess they do so intentionally so you know they're around. No respect at all. Second night of my stay a drunk guy knocked on my door while I was sleeping at night. Then he apologized and I heard him knocking on people's doors on the same floor. I'd recommend if you just need a place to crash for 1 single night.

Convenient location but hotel conditions poor

Posted Dec 18, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel conditions were not great, bed was old and broken, toilet didn't flush correctly. Tried a different room but the bed condition was worse than the first room. Location was good but loud, it was a short walk to the metro which takes you into Manhattan.

Awful

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. My room had bed bugs. I could go on and on with a list of other issues, but that one seems like enough for the purposes of this review.

Dirty and unsafe!

Posted Nov 14, 2016 on Orbitz
I will NEVER stay at a Days Inn again. I thought this was a reputable company. I've stayed in hostels way better than this hotel. Upon arrival, an apparent homeless man was yelling in the hallways and the staff did nothing. There was another man - did not seem like a guest - roaming around the kitchen and front entrance. He mumbled when I said hello to him. In my room, food (pretzel) was on the floor, the toiler paper dispenser was taped to the wall, the kitchen, hallways, stairways, and elevator were ALL unsanitary. I found a former guest's jewelry on the floor and gave it to the staff. The hotel maids kept their carts in the hallway and woke me up. Constant noise from the maids was horrible. Their carts looked dirty and unorganized. I was called home early and was charged the entire booking instead of the per day rate. This is the first time in my life in which an hotel charged me for not being at the hotel. When I spoke to the manager, he was rude and yelling at me. I did not depart on the second day. I WANT my money back! My receipt is fraudulent! This is not a recommended hotel.
