My initial reservation went smoothly, however I asked to be contacted by the property “Host” on several occasions because I had additional questions about the rental unit and procedures. I waited several days after each request, but with no response. I also contacted VRBO with questions and was told they would contact the host and have her respond – still no response. The only communication I received back was a form letter from Carolina Palm Vacations with reservation confirmation and check-in procedures.
Upon check-in we found evidence that the unit had not be properly cleaned:
Sticky bathroom floor, nut shells under the sofa, water rings on the glass tabletop, totally clogged dryer filter (and even the space behind the filter – quite a fire hazard!), a dishrag stuck in the garbage disposal, handprints on the door wall to the balcony, flickering lights in the second bathroom.
I called Carolina Palm to report this but got only voicemail so I left a message to call me, but again, no response.
Needless to say, I will not rent a Carolina Palm Vacation unit again, and am disappointed in VRBO for not being more helpful in getting response from them.
