My family of 4 stayed here over Christmas break 2019/20 and it suited our needs nicely. The pool was awesome and the place was plenty big for our family. It had a washer and dryer, which was nice. We BBQ'd near the pool on Christmas and it worked out great. I would go with an upper unit if possible. The ceilings are much higher and felt more spacious, even though it was the same footprint as the 1st floor units. The balcony on the second floor is nicer to watch monkeys in the trees.
The one negative about this place is the lack of supplies. We had to buy everything except the first roll of toilet paper and the first couple garbage bags. No salt, pepper, tin foil, bags, paper towels, cooking oil, spices, cooking sheet. I think this is the first place I stayed where I had to buy all of that stuff. We left a lot of this stuff behind, but I am not convinced it was left for the incoming guests. It was more annoying than anything else.
Otherwise, a nice place to stay and it met our expectations.
The beach, Pelada, was about a 5 minute walk. Pretty cool beach. Guiones was about a 10 minute drive. Not very far in terms of distance, but the condition of the roads force you to take it slowly. Guiones is a really nice beach and worth going to.
Be prepared to drive to most places, or take their little taxis, and be prepared for a lot of dust near the roads in the dry season.
