Padstow, walk to the beach, family & pet friendly, open fire, coastal footpath

Bloomfield is a very traditional Cornish cottage, with original features, that has recently gone through a very sympathetic renovation. A secluded, completely enclosed garden in the back is a sun trap and the perfect setting for a relaxing summer's evening. Trevone Bay is not only famous for its beach, loved by surfers and families alike, but also for its proximity to great walks around the cliffs. The cottage is situated in the heart of the small village of Trevone, a few miles from Padstow, and very close to all the other excellent beaches of the North coast of Cornwall. Please see this website for rates and availability.

A filthy accommodation
On arrival we noticed some blinds and the bathroom area were not as clean as should be. Messaged the owner who apologised. Next morning had a good look at the property. Cooker and kitchen utensils were filthy, there was no way we would cook our Christmas meal in that kitchen. Fire extinguisher was rusty and no indication of annual checks. Other areas dirty, rusty radiator, no hot water for bath or washing up. No information pack. Messaged owner again that morning, Christmas eve, she could do nothing as lives out of the UK, no one local to address the issues, told her we were leaving that day and expected a full refund of our fees. Also emailed Vrbo, some exchange of emails but they've now closed the exchange. To date, two weeks later, still only part refund and no offer of compensation for our experience in such poor accommodation. We will not be using this site again, and if anyone was asking for my advice re which site to use it wouldn't be this one.

Poor access
Cottage ok but not for mobility challenged. Access to the front door and upstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom very difficult for my wife who uses a walking stick. If we had known this we would have booked elsewhere

Bloomfield
Bloomfield was cute but a little bit tired decoration wise. Could have done with a little more comfort in sitting room, maybe a rug and better lighting. Front door was not very secure and internal doors a bit rattely. Kitchen was well equipped. Bedroom linen was good. Lovely views from upstairs. Lady who looked after it was very helpful and very easy to contact.

BLOOMFIELD COTTAGE TREVONE
Unfortunately apart from the fact that it was very tired and in need of updating and some TLC. We smelt gas when entering property but put it down to the fact it had been shut up,so we obviously opened all the doors and windows, and it seemed ok, until monday morning i walked down stairs and the smell of gas was incredibly strong, we contacted the by email owner who sent a plumber, who confirmed a gas leek. This could have been incredably serious, just thankful none of were seriously effected. We then didnt have any hot water for 3 days apart from the electrric showers again contacted owner and he sent umber out again. I really feel that we should be partly refunded for our disappointing stay . Also no infomation pack with any emergancy contacts, or local information. The cottage is a prime location thats the only positve thing i can say. We ended up not taking our dog because we were told by the owner he didnt want the dog doing poos in the garden, so not dog friendly. Very very disapointed Jackie Backlog

Great location
Quirky cottage, in need of a little TLC but in a great location. A few minutes walk to the village shop, local pub, beach and the South West coastal path. Great views from one of the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. The shower downstairs was perfect for rinsing out the sand. We had a great holiday and would definitely go back. Thank you

Lovely old cottage, minutes from the sea.
I had such a lovely stay here, in this very traditional, old, Cornish cottage. Although dated in many ways (others have commented on the various repairs that could be done), I think this is part of it's charm and the home offers a great deal of comfort. A very well equipped kitchen, of a good size, with a conservatory that is perfect for reading in and soaking up the sun on cooler days. The bedrooms were lovely, all fresh clean linen, comfortable mattresses, and a wonderful bookshelf, with a great variety of kids and grown-ups books! Location couldn't be better, a short walk fro the beach and Trevone has a lovely community feel to it. Thank you for sharing your home!

Well located in beautiful village
Location is great and within easy walk of the beach and Padstow. Kitchen well equipped with pans, cups, plates etc. Bedrooms are a good size. On street parking is a bit of a pain and it’s not always possible to park directly outside. The conservatory at the back needs repairing and leaks in the rain, also doors not secure. A shame also that we could not use the fireplaces as the chimneys had not been swept. Overall a good place for a family to stay, although only one WC does require patience and planning!

Lovely Cottage in a lovely Cornish village
Property was very nice , very much a cottage, location was great for the beach and the coastal foot path. It is situated on the main lane down to the beach, which we did find the noise of the traffic and people walking back from the pub late in the evening a little noisy if you had the window open and you slept in the front. It was good to have a safe secure garden for the dog , felt more could be done with the garden if you wanted to sit out in that area more. There was plenty of walking from the door step and we regularly used the bus service to get to a start point and walk back. The surrounding beaches were amazing but Padstow was far to busy for us but worth a visit if never been before.

Very nice property in a fab location, just what you would expect in a lovely seaside village so it’s a shame we need to stress the below. A few tired looking areas that require attention e.g a fresh coat of paint would be good, the conservatory wood needs repairing and treating and the garden was unkempt. All door handles upstairs in need of repair. The Window in the lounge the striker plate had been forced so it couldn’t shut properly. The bedroom with the bunk beds - the window wouldn’t open, the main bedroom window was missing a latch. The downstairs rear doors were only secured by small shoot bolts (no key), this was a bit unsettling for security and only one front door key provided which for adult guest made it inflexible. No parking so we were lucky to park outside the property a few days but other times we had to find other spots around the village. Wanted to use the bbq but found it had been left from the previous visit unclean so we left it. The property itself had fresh linen and towels which where clean and nice. All surfaces were clean in the kitchen and bathroom but lots of cobwebs all over the house. The shower is a tight fit for height as the roof slopes so anyone over 4ft it was uncomfortable. We must say that our holiday was fantastic and Trevone is a wonderful little place that we would return to, it offers a brilliant seaside family atmosphere, there is a great farm shop, a little pricey but you are on holiday remember! There is a surf shop which has a cafe/ takeaway and outside bar with entertainment (some nights) There is a beautiful sandy beach and around the corner there are rock pools and coastal walks to Harlyn Bay and Padstow. Had a rainy day and stayed in - good TV for choice, furniture was comfortable and lighting was nice and homely - really was a home from home but just needed a little attention. The star ratings are gauged on particular questions we have been asked in this survey that do not cover the negative points we have included. Thank you for our stay in your lovely seaside cottage we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday

Great location
This is the second time we have stayed at Bloomfield cottage. The location is great for accessing the beach via a short walk and the shower in the conservatory is brilliant for cleaning off the kids. The farm shop is across the road and we love picking up fresh pastries for breakfast each day. The cottage is cosy with a large living room and the kitchen is well equipped. We appreciated the owner leaving us cream tea and fresh milk for our arrival We tend to go in a quieter week, but always manage to park right outside the door.
