Very important. If you are coming from Australia, New Zealand or other spots to the west, you will cross the international date line which means if you leave during the day on April 3 and arrive after midnight, it will still be April 3. So you may have booked the hotel for April 3 but check in is 2pm and check out is April 4. That won’t work. To be safe communicate with the hotel re your exact arrival and departure.
Good news, the place has someone on duty in the wee hours to greet people arriving very late as we did. If there is a room, they will accommodate you. Numerous people goof up the reservation as we did but the guy at the front desk fixed the dates and had a room. That was a huge relief.
If you are young, healthy and have little luggage you can walk uphill to the motel but for others take a taxi and be prepared with the local currency, XPF. We worked out a price of 2,000 XPF which is expensive for a short ride but the residents are poor and if you are in Tahiti, you are not.
The motel was very basic but clean and the accommodation of the person at the front desk was priceless. We only stayed overnight and left the next morning to catch a ferry to Moorea so I can’t comment on anything else.
