One of the best VRBO's we have stayed in.
Great place to stay in a country setting. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and spacious. There were mares and foals in the pasture across the driveway. Some of the mares and foals would come up to the fence so you could pet them. You could walk up the driveway to the barn to see other horses. Adirondack chairs were provided which was great to sit and relax in the afternoon while enjoying the view. Definitely a 5 star experience.

A truly special property
If you are looking for a peaceful and gorgeous place to stay surrounded by nature, horses, and donkeys, this is it! I have been coming here for many years now and it never gets old. Great, communicative hosts, and the property is always immaculate.

Class in the Bluegrass
This property is awesome. We enjoyed being out in the middle of horse country with beautiful vistas and horses everywhere we looked. We toured Lane’s End Farm and especially enjoyed seeing Flightline and the other stallions there. We also went to the Keeneland September sale with horses selling for over one million dollars. All in all, a wonderful place to stay.

Wonderful Stay
What a magical time! This is not your typical VRBO. You are surrounded by nature, horses, and, of course, donkeys! The place was lovely and extremely clean!!! We highly recommend it!

We loved it!
The house was very clean and plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Fresh flowers and cookies were there when we arrived. The area is beautiful and we loved walking around the property and seeing all the horses. They were very friendly and walked right up to you.

Heavenly Retreat!
My husband and I were looking for a peaceful weekend away to recharge and regroup amidst our hectic and demanding life responsibilities and we were not disappointed. The accommodations were beautiful and just top notch, bed was comfortable, kitchen was supplied for our dinner making, and the location- amazing. We sat outside to soak in the sunset and watch the beautiful horses and their foals saunter through the evening which was about as close to heaven as we could get for the moment. The hosts created a needed and memorable retreat that will remain with us indefinitely. Thank you, Steve and Lisa!

Dream Property
Absolutely loved the area and old railroad station that the property was at. Pictures do not do it justice. The owner stopped and talked with my husband and told him we could walk up to the barn and told us about things to do in the area. Every morning we took our walk to the barn and loved on the horses. February is when babies are born so it was neat to see so many moms with their babies. My favorite horse was It's the Swede she was so sweet I wish I could take her home. Then there was John George and Sallie these two are the sweetest donkeys you will ever meet. John George love's his treats so make sure you bring him something when you visit. I will definitely stay here again. It was in beautiful horse county but close to everything. I wish I could move in it was so peaceful. My family loved everything. The beds where comfortable and the kitchen was huge with everything you need. Believe you will not want to leave.

Hutchison Station Review
My husband and I were thrilled with our stay at Hutchison Station. The accomodations were fantastic and being able to walk out the door to see horses and foals as well as donkeys was a dream come true. The only drawback was slow internet but I think that might be because of limited cell towers? We would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

Horse Lovers paradise
Let me just start by saying. We very rarely ever stay in the same place twice because we like to try new places and experience new things but this is one i loved returning back to. The Parkes family are outstanding hosts and make you feel very welcome. I loved speaking with them about the area, restaurants and especially the horses which are the highlight of the stay for me. You have the freedom to get up and close with the horses and the donkeys, dont want to forget about those two. Its like you get to go and hang out at your very own horse farm. The accommodations are very well kept and have all the things you need. Two large bedrooms with comfortable beds. Large windows throughout to be able to watch the horses from the comfort of the living room if your not out with them. I cannot wait until I can go back again. Its just so relaxing for me.

Absolutely wonderful
The place is very spacious and exceptionally clean. It is located conveniently close to Keeneland and many horse farms. My favorite spot was sitting beside the window watching the mares and foals grazing in the field. The donkeys (John-George & Sadie) are very entertaining and always reminded me if I forgot to give them a carrot when I walked by. We enjoyed it so much, we reserved our next visit before we left!

Weekend meetup
Lexington was the midway point for a meet up with siblings and spouses to celebrate 70th birthdays! So glad we looked on VRBO and found this great place to stay. More like home, definitely not the hotel experience. Looked and felt like a complete renovation just wrapped up last week. Very nice, fully equipped. Beautiful quiet setting but close to everything in town. Restaurant recommendations were excellent. We plan to stay again when we pass through Lexington.

Kentucky at its very best
It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful Kentucky experience. The stone fences rolling through the hills and meadows dotted with thoroughbreds. It all gives a sense of awe to be surrounded by an unspoiled corner of the earth.

It was a wonderful experience. The accommodations were very well done and cared for. The area was nice,quiet and beautiful. The donkeys were quite friendly,especially if you give them treats. The owners were helpful,friendly and easy to talk to. We even got to look into another building they are working on for future rental. Very nice high quality construction,should be exceptional when done. I just can't think of enough good things to say about our experience!!

Cozy and quaint location for horse lovers
Clean classic design with a tranquil setting. Newly remodeled and included everything you would need. Loved all of the horses and our donkey buddies. This was our first time in horse country and was the perfect home for us. If it were up to our daughter, we would move there. Steve and Lisa were wonderful hosts. Homemade cookies and beautiful roses were awaiting our arrival. Thank you for such a wonderful time!

Great Weekend Stay
We took a quick trip to Lexington for a family weekend get away and could not have been more pleased with our stay! This property is beautiful, we enjoyed feeding the donkeys and walking down the lane to see the horse and their babies. As far as the interior of the home, it was immaculate. The history added a nice backstory and the remodel was beautiful. Steve stopped by to welcome us and offer a few restaurant suggestions and was very hospitable. We visited Claiborne Farm and a couple distilleries and this was the perfect home base. I would 100% stay again when back in the area.

One of the best VRBO homes we have stayed in!
Located amongst beautiful rolling hills and horse farms just outside of Lexington KY, this home in the former Hutchison train station was ideal. The home was beautifully appointed, completely spotless, and fully equipped to meet our needs. Our hosts were always available to answer any questions and to provide information about the local area. And we enjoyed feeding treats to John-George and Sadie, the miniature donkeys. A great place to stay during our first visit to Kentucky horse country. Highly recommend!

Peaceful and rural but close
What a wonderful property, enhanced by its location. We enjoyed being in a rural setting that offered the peace and quiet of the Kentucky countryside. A little traffic for an hour in the mornings. Yet close to all the offerings of Lexington, Frankfort, and the Paris area. We had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

Immaculately clean! Check-in process was no-contact. It might have been easier if the signs of the rentals were over the doors instead of in the parking lot, but we figured it out. Just pay attention to the rental number. Still, I was glad to have had a chance to meet the owners. My boys quickly ate up the delicious fresh cookies waiting upon arrival. It was fun for my teenage boys and husband to feed the donkeys. Bring apples and carrots. Walking to the barn was relaxing. May is beautiful in Lexington with the iris and peony flowers blooming. The friendly horses and foals came right up to the fence to get their rubs. Beds were firm. Everything was easy to find in the rental. Very spacious with high ceilings. Very quiet at night. Good layers of blankets on the beds for your choice of coverage. Easy access to the thermostat to adjust to your liking. We came for a wedding in Lexington, so the location was good.. about halfway between Lexington and Paris. Stores are a short drive to get any supplies. The grounds were also well maintained. Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets with the views in both directions. It worked out great as a place to rest, retreat and have plenty of space .

Awesome stay on a working horse farm!!
My daughter, 11 month old granddaughter and I had a great time! The rental is beautiful, spacious with high ceilings. We loved walking down to the barn to visit the mares and their babies! We were treated to the mares and babies playing in the pasture right out our front door!! Steve and Lisa were helpful and so informative! We hope to return!

The apartment was beautiful and very clean! My son, husband and I enjoyed everything about our stay. Check in was easy and we enjoyed feeding the donkeys and petting all the horses and their foals with a nice walk to the barn! Couldn’t have asked for anything better. The apartment had it all!

We had a blast staying here! The unit is huge and surrounded by horse farms! My kids kept saying ‘this is a mansion!’ The ceilings are so high and there is so much space. The donkeys are adorable and the mares with babies in the barn on the property are absolutely beautiful. While you are here you have to check our Whispering Woods riding stable for a horse ride, it’s low key and fun for all. Also mirror twin brewing has some nice outdoor seating and great food by the rolling oven pizza. We had such a good time my 8 year old is already asking when we can go back. Thanks Steve!

Dreamy “Donkey house”
This is a hidden gem! My daughters picked to stay here because of the opportunity to live near donkeys. It is a beautifully refurbished train station with architectural details that honor the original building. We were greeted with flowers and chocolate chip cookies. The owners were helpful and friendly and let us be involved in the arrival of a one day old fowl “Bob.” There were 5!!! Baby horses in the bath with there Moms. The land is green with refreshing country air. Great communication from hosts and they are low maintenance regarding check in and check out. We enjoyed a trail ride at Whispering Woods, The Kentucky Horse park and zip lining at Boone Creek. The ice cream at Boom and Crank- just buy some pints- you won’t regret it. Pizza at Goodfellows by a creek outside felt covid safe and was delicious. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Location
We selected this rental in a whim. We wanted to have a spring break getaway close to home due to Covid and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Our kids absolutely loved feeding Sadie and John George (the donkeys) and couldn't have been more thrilled about petting the foals! We could have spent all our time on the farm and they would have been happy as clams! However, we did hike at Natural Bridge State Park two different days and that was a lot of fun too. The house was very nice, clean and comfortable. Our kids adored the big window seats! Steve was fantastic about answering our questions! Our kids are already asking to go back and much preferred this spring break to our typical Florida trip!

A perfect getaway
We had a wonderful visit! The property is clean and so beautiful! It had everything we needed - a fully furnished kitchen, laundry & plenty of space for our family. We were even greeted with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies upon our arrival. Our kids loved visiting with the donkeys. We will definitely be back in the spring!
