    Kentucky Hotel Travel Guide

While well known as a horse racing fan's paradise, the state of Kentucky has so much more to offer its guests. The Bluegrass State is best known for its bourbon, Bluegrass music and college basketball prowess. In addition, guests at hotels in Kentucky can arrange their trip to navigate through the world's longest cave system at Mammoth Cave National Park. There certainly is no shortage of special things to do when staying in Kentucky hotels.

Guests enjoying cheap hotel deals in Kentucky can spend time outdoors exploring through the country's longest path of navigable waterways or hunting the largest deer, turkey and elk herds east of the Mississippi River. The Kentucky Horse Park is a top destination for horse lovers who want to see horses who've won past Derby races.

The peak travel time for tourists seeking a cheap Kentucky hotel deal is in May around Derby time. Those wanting to view the Derby should visit Expedia well in advance to book their reservations. Prices for Kentucky hotel packages are often lower during the winter months of the year. During Derby time, Kentucky hotel deals often include fun related activities, even for those who are not lucky enough to score tickets to the event. Don't forget your hats as Derby fashion is an essential part of the fun.

The eastern portion of Kentucky is part of the Appalachian Mountains. Here, travelers can find hiking trails and incredible views of the flora and fauna of this gentle mountain range. Kentucky is bordered by the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Discount rates for rooms are available for all regions of the state, making a trip here affordable on any budget.

In addition to Kentucky's incredible natural beauty in the rural areas, the state's urban areas offer plenty of fun, excitement and entertainment. Louisville is the state's most populous city, with nearly 800,000 residents. The second most populous city is Lexington, with around 300,000 residents. These two cities offer the amenities of urban life but at a slightly slower, Southern pace. Favorite activities here include the Kentucky State Fair and the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival. The smaller communities in Kentucky host fun annual festivals such as the Bourbon Festival, Lincoln Days and the annual International Bar-B-Q Festival. Visitor should plan to experience all of the fun Kentucky has to offer.

I was in town and this is the closest hotel to 4th Street Live, my destination. You basically just have to walk across the street. Hotel was great and the staff was super friendly.

    "Beautifully restored & charming"
The Brown Hotel has a rich history dating back to the 1920s, which they've preserved and maintained beautifully. The ornate detailing throughout the first flower, lobby and mezzanine are a testament to their pride in the hotel. The room was also beautifully decorated and comfortable. My only complaint is that it was a bit musty in the room, and my husband and I had to keep the AC on all day/night to help control the smell. We totally understand that it's an older hotel, but were disappointed by this aspect. Otherwise, it was a great stay!

    "Nice hotel close to restaurants"
We've stayed at this hotel a couple of times because of its proximity to stores and restaurants. We were looking for an easy drive to UK, as well as a hotel that would allow us to buy supplies for our son, who is a student. The hotel room was very large suite. The only complaint I have is that it can certainly use a face lift. The carpets are stained and worn, and the showers need some re-grouting. We enjoyed having a glass of wine one evening in the small bar downstairs. A fairly priced and convenient hotel.

"This is a nice hotel for the money "
This hotel is priced good and had a good central location for my needs. The room was nice and clean but the bathroom sink was located outside of the actual bathroom and it was just a sink and mirror it was fine for me but if my wife was with me on this stay there wasn't anywhere to set her "getting ready" items. Like tooth paste hair dryer etc.

This hotel was a nice treat for us. The staff were friendly and attentive, the hotel was clean and tasteful, and the drinks and food in the Cricket Lounge were excellent. The bathroom in our basic room was fantastic and luxurious. We didn't have time to experience the Palace Restaurant, but plan to the next time we're there. We'll definitely be back!
