Long overdue for refurbishment and a deep cleaning. Stinky septic smell and nothing looks like the pictures. I guess most reviews are fake? Staff is helpful but the hotel is way way understaffed (had to wait for the checkin for over an hour)

The service was good and the hotel was clean. The only bad thing is the food. It was very bland and very repetitive. I don’t suggest staying for more than 5 days because you will be eating the same thing every day.

My recent stay at Catalonia Resort was, on the whole, a delightful experience. The resort's ambiance and the staff's eagerness to assist played a significant role in making my vacation enjoyable. Upon arrival, I encountered a minor hiccup with my room assignment, but the management was quick to address the issue, ensuring that it was resolved promptly and to my satisfaction. Additionally, a leaky pipe in my bathroom could have been a dampener, but the resort's maintenance team was efficient in handling the situation, leaving me impressed with their responsiveness. The majority of the staff at Catalonia Resort were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. Their approachability and assistance added a warm touch to my stay. As for the culinary offerings, the food was average – nothing to write home about, but it was sufficient and had enough variety to cater to different tastes. A quirky aspect of the resort was the presence of ducks near the pool area. While they were charming in their own right, they did tend to leave little reminders of their presence. However, this was a minor inconvenience and did not detract significantly from the overall experience. In conclusion, despite a few manageable issues, Catalonia Resort managed to provide a mostly positive experience, and I would consider returning for another visit.

We visited on the second week of April. We love the hotel. Te attention from the wait staff was excellent. They were very attentive and they made us have a wonderful time. We spent.many hours at the swimming pool bar. Jessica and Carlos at the swimming pool bat were amazing. They treated us very nicely. They are kind and very happy. They made us feel like family. The animation staff made ur day when they had the Dominican party at the beach. They lead us on how to dance merengue and bachata. We loved that in addition to the buffet restaurants they had lunch evry day at the beach, with the cheff cooking daily different types ofseafood and rice pasta. The attention was excellent at the lunch buffet. We specially thank Jonathan (who called me his brother with so much kindness), Leidy, Oscar and Carlos. They were very attentive and always had someting nice to say. We loved the different restaurants for dinner. The food was excellent. There was every day a different show at 9 or 9:30 pm. All the shows were excellent. We loved the magic sow nigth, the rumba night, dominican night, the Beatles and the other daily shows. We are very thankful of all the amenities and great service.

Did not like dirty chairs in the bar area, as well as stained chairs & curtains in my room. Few baseboard tiles were missing in my room. The food was ok, pretty much the same every day. The beach and calm waters were excellent ( the best part of that hotel). Not sure why so much time & effort is spend on flower beds & shrubs where you can spend that time & money on something that requires immediate attention like for example ripped buffet restaurant' shades & stuff' uniforms. The pool area is very noisy, non stop music blasting.

I did a thorough search for a resort that was specific to what I was seeking on my first trip to the Dominican. From the time I walked through the entrance it was amazing. Basilik greeted me to make sure I grabbed the complimentary cocktail and gave me the run down of the property. The check in was smooth and efficient and a positive start to my trip. My room was conveniently located right near the pool area and the beach, very much appreciated. The vibe by the pool was lively and fun!! Now the best food in my opinion was hands down Mikado and Tapas restaurants. Plus Curaco Bar with the friendly and funny ladies behind the bar was a treat as well. I could go on and on about how much I loved my time there. It was a quick and much needed trip to relax and “be” after losing my Mother recently. You won’t regret booking with Catalonia, I’ll be back! P.S. BD Experience did not disappoint with my zip lining adventure! Thanks again for a memorable first time in the DR!!

I went to this hotel stay for my birthday , the service is great and the workers are amazing . The only thing is my ceiling was leaking my entire stay. Even after they came to fix it , it still was leaking. There really isn’t much to do on this hotel at night time everything closes at 6pm . The buffet close at 10:30pm and the bar at 12am . I also seen a roach near the food in the caribe buffet. Your best option would be to book reservations 2-3 days before for the mikado hibachi.

We paid for the upgraded, preferred rooms. The rooms we got were all beat up and outdated, not very clean and with strong mold smell. We had issues with the keys constantly not working, air conditioning that did not work properly and not having cold water 3 days in the row in 1 of 2 of our rooms and no hot water in our second room 2 days in the row. We had to spend extra time in the room to wait for some one to look at our water like it can’t be done without someone opening the faucet and seeing that there is indeed no water. One of the times I was late to restaurant reservation, because I couldn’t take shower after coming back from the beach. Then we had to stay in the room several times for some one to check the AC and tell us that it is working fine when the lowest it can cool is 77 when it is 86 outside. The guest service reps are just dismissive and not helpful and were not willing to help or provide any kind of courtesy for all the issues we had.

Worst service ever, not being explicit enough but nobody in this hotel seems to want to work. Thats the idea we got from every single person working in the hotel. We had 1 dinner night that was saved from this and it was a japanese tepanyake night. Our Chef Jesus is about the only person in the hotel that gave us great service. In general we had a bad time. The hotel is very old and not worth what you pay

Stayed at Catalonia Beach Resort Bavaro. PROS: - Staff was mostly very friendly. Especially Chabely at front desk and Ronston (Dimitry) who organizes some tours - Rooms were pretty well equipped (stayed in privilege side which was renovated) - Food was very good with tons of options. Really enjoyed Steak place and Pizza place by the pool - Buffet at the pool is a very nice atmosphere. Love that they use nets so no birds at your tables. This was an issue at our last resort - Klub Dive is amazing. My husband did 3 dives (incl one shark dive). Thoroughly enjoyed it - Sailing and Kayaking was fun and free to borrow - Glass Bottom Snorkeling trip was fun and a nice break from the resort - Grounds are stunning. Lots of trees. - Lots of covered seating at the beach CONS: - Checkin was rough. - requests made for 2 queen beds were not adhered to. - Had to move rooms twice which was awful. - Certain staff at checkin were pretty rude.

We cannot recommend Catalonia to anyone. The first morning of our trip, we were awoken to a phone call requesting our presence for a welcome breakfast. IT WAS NOT. It was a MULTI-HOUR “presentation” for their travelers program. If we had known, we would have declined. We felt that was very deceiving. The Pearl Beach Club was very loud into the late hours. This isn’t normally an issue for us but we lost hours of sleep because we could hear and feel the music in our room with doors and shades closed. The property, itself, was clean and well kept. The service was less than average. Friendly or helpful staff was hard to find. The shopping center and the restaurants need to be open more often. They were closed for hours at a time which caused a lot of disruption to our trip, as we weren’t able to eat when hungry and had to conform to whatever hours the restaurants were open. Even when the stores were posted to be open, the staff had the doors locked and we weren’t able to pick up items we needed, for hours! Our original room had issues with leaking water and it took multiple phone calls and requests to fix it before they eventually put us in a new room. The 2nd room was nice. There was no hot water our entire stay so it was cold showers for our entire trip, which wasn’t pleasant. Overall, we were not impressed and will choose somewhere else to stay for any future visits to Punta Cana.

Some of the staff at the buffet at near the entrance wasn’t as friendly as others. I one occasion we had to ask for drinks over 5 different times.
