Top Remptendorf Hotel Reviews

Hotel Adler

Hotel Adler

10/10 Excellent
"When I originally booked my stay, comments from previous guests described the decor as old and outdated. I found the opposite. The building is old (German poet Schiller once stayed there), but the room was modern throughout with walk in shower and staff very professional and polite. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel is right on the market square in the heart of the city within easy walking distance of everything. A farmer’s market is in the market square in front of the hotel several times a week as well as a stand with Thuringian bratwurst. A tourist info center by the market square next to city hall (Rathaus) was very helpful. I highly recommend the Adler Hotel in Rudolstadt."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Remptendorf?
For travelers visiting Remptendorf, the best area to stay is directly within the village of Remptendorf itself or in the nearby larger town of Schleiz, offering a balance of local charm and convenience.

Staying within Remptendorf village is ideal for those seeking a quiet, rural retreat. The village provides direct access to the surrounding natural landscapes, including hiking trails and the Bleilochtalsperre reservoir, which is Germany's largest. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful stay with opportunities for outdoor activities right at their doorstep.

For those who prefer more amenities and better road access, staying in Schleiz is recommended. Located just a short drive from Remptendorf, Schleiz offers a wider selection of accommodations, dining options, and shops.
When is the best time to go to Remptendorf?
The best time to visit Remptendorf is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) months when the weather is mild and pleasant.

During these periods, you'll experience comfortable temperatures ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Thuringian Slate Mountains and Upper Saale Valley. The landscapes are particularly appealing with spring blossoms or autumn foliage, offering excellent conditions for hiking, cycling, and enjoying the outdoors without the summer crowds or winter chill. This time is great for travelers who appreciate scenic beauty and outdoor activities.

For those interested in water-based recreation, the summer months of July and August offer warmer temperatures suitable for swimming and boating on the Hohenwarte Reservoir. While it can be busier, the extended daylight hours provide more time to enjoy the reservoir's activities.
