If you enjoy nature , quiet and privacy but still in the heart of all the fun this is the place for you.
This apartment was built in 2012 and Is decorated in island style. Tiled floor throughout fully stocked kitchen with exotic views of the jungle. Enjoy a variety of mangos ,bananas ,avocados and coconut right out your back door. For your convenience owners will arrange your airport pickup for $25

West End Cottage Stay
We stayed 6 weeks at West End Plantation Cottage. This was our first trip to Roatan. We don’t party so we wanted somewhere we could have peace and quiet but also wanted to be able to eat at restaurants or cook if we choose. We can’t say enough how wonderful our hosts Dixlee and Dick have been. They are genuine, kind people, always available and ready to help in any way possible. They are both very knowledgeable about the island as well as any other questions you may have about the cultures, fishing, plant life or ocean life. Wi-Fi worked well, the electricity went out a few times but I would expect that when you are on an island. Apartment is air conditioned. Their apartment was clean, comfortable and just what we wanted. We slept so well and felt very safe. The area is paradise, so quiet. They have a private deck for your use. It is a 5-10 minute walk into town but it’s good for you to walk. We only took a taxi when we traveled farther than West End. There are several small grocery stores in West End as well as a butcher shop (frozen meats) in the Coconut Tree Mall in West End. Also several fresh fruit stands and a coffee shop for your Chai lattes. If you want to stay in a quiet, relaxing area, choose West End Plantation Cottage. Thank you Dixlee and Dick for your wonderful hospitality. We would love to see you again; you have been such a blessing to us.

I really want to give this place a good review. Dixie is a fabulous hostess and took care of most problems in a timely manner. It’s a great little apartment. The only thing that disgusted me was the old man on the upstairs balcony horking and peeing over the edge while I was sitting on the deck directly under him. He needs to stop this when there are guests directly beneath him. Maybe I should have said something but I didn’t, I was too embarrassed. Otherwise it’s fairly clean, really can’t expect no bugs as it’s in the jungle and always remember its a third world country so don’t expect things to be like home.

Great apartment close to West End
We just got back from Roatan and stayed at this great little apartment. The rental was easy and it was easy to work with the landlord. We had an issue with internet.. Island problems i guess. It took a couple days but it did get repaired. We were able to use wifi in town so it was not a big loss. One thing that caught us by surprise was that it was not quite in town the way it appears on the map. It is quite close.. about a 10-15 min walk down hill to West End. The benefit of this was that it was lovely and secluded and easy to sleep since we were not right in town. It is primarily an uphill walk back to the property. Again not a huge problem and if you did not want to walk then a taxi would happily drop you off for like a buck or two. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay here and would stay there again should the opportunity arise. It was clean, convenient and yet quiet enough to have a nice balance.

Great getaway
The apartment is very large and has a spacious outdoor space with a picnic table and hammock. Dixie was the best. She showed us around town and provided lots of helpful hints during our stay. The walk to town can be difficult on hot days but there are always people available to give you a ride up the hill. You can’t beat this place for the price!

Close, but far enough away
Just a 15 minute walk to West End downtown. Feels very quiet and relaxing. Nice porch. Dixie is very nice and accomidating. She made us feel quite welcome. I would recomend this property.

We really enjoyed our stay. The description is accurate. It's about a 10 minute walk to West End, although taxis are cheap and readily available. Dixie and family are wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay
Hosts were absolutely wonderful and accommodating. Large very comfortable space with two beds and it’s own entrance in a secure location. Close enough to town to walk, but recommend bringing a head lamp due to small road shoulders. Their dogs are so sweet and welcoming. Dixie brings a personal touch and was thoughtful enough to save us some homemade paella! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Would stay there again in the future for sure!!

Quiet West End Getaway
Met Dixie upon check-in and she was so sweet! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only a 10 minute walk from the west end, perfect for peace and quiet at the end of the day. All windows have views of lush greenery, a papaya tree, coconut trees, hibiscus, etc. The owners live in the main house and the rental is on the lower. No issues at all with noise. The AC was also great after a long day in the sun. We would definitely stay again!

Dick and Dixie's place
Dixie and Dick were wonderful hosts. Great communication and they made us feel welcome without being intrusive of our privacy. We really enjoyed interacting with their family and pets. The studio is quite large. The beds have curtains around them for semi-privacy and one has a foldable privacy screen. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was fairly well equiped for preparing a meal. If we needed anything Dixie was very responsive to supply it. The 9 windows in the unit provided great breezes so we rarely needed the AC. It is a short 10 minute to West End but we opted to rent a car because we felt safer in a car on the busy road especially at night. There is very little or no shoulder on some parts of the road into West End. I recommend a car with good clearance to navigate the steep driveway. The studio is in the back of the property surrounded by jungle with no road noise which we appreciated. We had access to the shared washing machine and clothesline for doing laundry which is a huge perk. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and found the hosts to be exceptional. Thanks Dixie and Dick.

Dick and Dixie were wonderful hosts very welcoming treated us like family. We were so fortunate to have Dixie cook us an amazing dinner. Her pumpkin pie was to die for. Stayed for a week, Dixie went out of her way to take us from 1 location to another when we were changing locations. This place feels like my second home. It is very simple and nice and the peace and quiet is what makes it a great place for me. My husband and I stayed 4 nights here and really enjoyed our time in Roatan with this place as our base. The apartment is light and airy with a full well-stocked kitchen and and reliable hot water shower. Laundry facilities were also available to use. It is very close to Roatan Oasis, which is a great place for dinner and drinks out. Half Moon Bay was a 10-15 minute walk which was a nice beach with crystal clear water for great for swimming and snorkeling. The main part of West End was around 15 minutes walking or super quick taxi where there are tons of bars, restaurants, and water taxis available. Dixie was the best hostess ever and arranged a ride to meet us at the ferry upon arrival and she even brought us back to the ferry terminal herself when it was time for us to go. She went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be, so we were so glad we decided to stay here!

Relaxing stay with lovely people
Dick and Dixie's house was the perfect place to stay for our scuba trip. It's within walking distance to West End, which was great. Other reviews have already mentioned that you have to walk up and down hills between West End and the house, but it's a short 10-minute walk. You just need to be careful of the traffic because there is no shoulder on the road. The rental is spacious and quiet; it's the lower floor of their house and is surrounded by beautiful trees and foliage. It's so nice to sit or lie in the hammocks of your private porch. You have the use of a washing machine and there are miles of clothesline to hang up your clothes and scuba gear; also, bonus, the clothesline is under their porch so you don't have to worry about your laundry getting left out in the rain. This was such a nice alternative to staying at a crowded noisy resort, or dealing with the bustle of the West End strip. The place is charming, the beds are comfortable, the shower pressure is good, and there is unlimited air-conditioning (rare for Roatan) and ceiling fans to deal with the heat. Dixie was so friendly and quick to attend to our every need. They are both such nice people and gave us some delicious mangoes from their yard. It was a little confusing communicating with Dick via email before the trip about airport pickup and grocery shopping (which they offer in the listing), but it all worked out with Dixie giving us a ride to the airport when we departed. I would definitely stay there again and I strongly recommend. Thank you, Dixie and Dick (and Amir)!

I was blessed with finding this place.
I arrived in Roatan as a new visitor. I was there for a six week course. At first I though it was a long walk to beach but enjoyed the solitude of the location a short distance from the beach. The stay was very enjoyable and the hosts are wonderfully people. Dixie helped with getting groceries made sure all was good each and everyday. My adult son's came for six days and she was so accommodating and sweet the loved her. There are many places to stay with closer locations and newer settings. I think it's the hospitality and vibe of the place which made so enjoyable.

Quiet little haven just a 10-minute walk to the best places on the island!
Dick & Dixie are wonderful, sharing their home-grown bananas & even Dick’s fresh-baked cookies with us! Dixie goes out of her way to make sure that you’re taken care of and that your stay on the island is pleasant. She even picks you up personally from the airport! Dick has been on the island for years and is well connected, with good advice on which things are worth seeing and doing vs those that aren’t so much. The spacious room has two beds, a kitchen with a gas range, table & fridge, A/C, shower, unlimited internet, laundry facilities, and it is all very clean and well maintained.

we spent 2 1/2 months at plantation cottage. a big shout out to Dick and Dixie our hosts for all the things they did to make our vacation truly remarkable ,from airport pick up to drop off,grociery shopping covid testing,along with information about roatan, and the wonderful honduras dinner Dixie prepared for us .the apartment was spacious with and clean with lots of windows overlooking the gardens like Dick says its paradise

Great stay just outside of West End
We enjoyed our week staying with Dick and Dixie. The location was great, we usually walked to town in the morning and took a taxi back up the hill for $2. We really liked that they had a washer and clothesline next to the hammocks, full kitchenette to cook some basic meals, and lots of windows and ceiling fans to minimize AC use. Appreciated the warm hospitality and pickup. Would stay here again. Thanks for everything! Adam
