    Honduras Hotel Travel Guide

In the past few years, the nation of Honduras has experienced a tremendous series of changes. The Honduran People

The people of Honduras take a very laid-back attitude towards most things in life. Many who visit the nation will learn that Hondurans are not as interested or overly concerned with topics such as politics and world affairs. They are much more interested in being friendly to both one another and to tourists. Perhaps most important of all, the laid-back attitude of the Hondurans is infectious. You'll soon discover yourself in a much more peaceful state of mind.

    Things to Do in Honduras

Roatan Island has access to some of the most beautiful beaches you'll find almost anywhere. While you're relaxing on the beach, make sure to stop by one of the many small stands located along the beaches that serve coconut water straight from the coconut. These treats are inexpensive, delicious, and refreshing.

Other popular activities include snorkeling, bird watching, observing nature, exploring national parks, and watching the howler monkeys of Parque Nacional Jeannette Kawas. Utila especially is well-known among backpackers for inexpensive food and a great place to find a cheap Honduras hotel deal.

The clear waters of Honduras make diving and snorkeling a great adventure. While the waters are a bit chilly early in the morning, they warm up quickly enough.

    When to Go

Honduras is a tropical location, but it has a variety of weather regions. Temperatures tend to remain in the high 70s to high 80s year round. Spring is the hottest season. Tourism-wise, the high season is December to April and mid-June to August. When visiting during this time, it's important to book reservations ahead of time especially to make sure you get the top rates and the best discount rooms in Honduras hotels at special prices.

If you are looking for truly cheap hotel deals in Honduras, the best deals can be found generally in May, October, and November. During these months, hotels in Honduras as well as airfare to the nation tend to be at their lowest.

    "Beautiful resort, but. . ."
Las Verandas is a beautiful resort and the staff was exceptional, but. . . . even though we love privacy and that delivered there were some issues. The resort is so far from everything else and the expense of using the hotel shuttle high that renting a car was imperative. DO NOT rent a car from Thrifty, they neglect to tell you when you reserve there is a $1400 deposit. We ended up using KIA which was great. The room is beautiful and comfortable although the mini refrigerator is more of a heater. The restaurant and beach bar were great and service exceptional but very expensive. Particularly for two teachers. Couldn't get to anyplace else without transportation. The snorkeling off the beach at Las Verandas was not good. Had to go elsewhere. Best part of the trip was booking with Mango Creek Resort for day snorkeling trip to Pigeon Cay. Amazing!

"Excellent location, amazing staff. Loved it!"
Loved the hotel's location. The people were very kind and super helpful. Made me feel like at home. Krisna and Julio at the Front Desk were exceptional. Francisco and Ziggy at the Palapa always greeted me by my name and had a smile on their face. Willie, helped me with all sorts of different requests I made, making sure I was happy. The only issue was the mosquitos in the room. Eventhough they were very diligent in sending someone to spray when I called, the mosquitos still kept going in under the door. Besides that, stay was amazing!

    "lovely resort but ..."
The resort was beautiful and the staff were excellent. I was shocked at the prices in the restaurant and realize they pretty well have you locked in as its too far to find a different place to eat. The first day my daughter had linguine with shrimp for lunch which was $17 US. These prices are way out of line with Honduran prices and we were disappointed to see it only came with four shrimp. When i mentioned this to the manager he stared at me for an uncomfortably long time and told me they hadn't had any other complaints..not the attitude nor response I would have hoped for. The meal service did include a bun the next day which was better but still felt insulted by the managers response and the sparse seafood. Later i has a steak that was one third fat but the waiter didn't seem to care. If they are going to charge those prices they should offer fabulous food.

    "It wasn't what I expected"
The hotel was fine for a 2 star hotel but lacked the service you would expect in a 4 star hotel. They made the pool so small it wasn't even apealing. The rooms were ok and the shampoo was very nice. But service was so-so I went to relax for 2 days and didn't get a chance, I was awaken by someone who was given my room key and insisted it was his room. They tried to make it up to me but 3 calls later and I just didn't feel it.
