Not up to standard
Here's the good - the location was good with a co-op market just a block away and easy to get to locations in town. The host was also very responsive and willing to give a partial refund when we brought up our concerns. However, the host pressures people to not leave a review at all rather than a bad one.Now, on to the bad. First, the check in process was a little bit unusual in that we were required to submit an photo ID and sign a rental agreement. We have not experienced that in the 10 years we've used short term rentals on trips.* The described corn hole game was found broken in the (very dirty) basement.* There was scrap wood taking up half of the deck.* The entire place smelled terribly, and it was clear the owners are aware of the smell because there were glade plug-ins and charcoal packs on the main level.* There were stains on the furniture and carpeted stairs.* The towels were stained.* The bathroom's stick on floor was peeling up, the bathroom sink was cracked, the toilet seat wasn't fully attached, and the bath's non-stick bottom was blackened.* There was dust and dirt on floors, rugs, and a LOT on the ceiling fans. The dust on the fans rendered them unusable. The house was hot, the window AC units couldn't keep up, and not having the fans wasn't helpful.* Most of the blinds were broken.Overall, this was the worst place we've ever stayed at, and we've stayed at a very wide variety of short term rentals.
