It was a place to lay our heads. Beds were rock hard, no toiletries except liquid soap. We bought the breakfast which was pretty poor. But we were here to see the Abby and it was a great location and the bus stopped right out front.

Our room was fabulous. The decor, comfort, and cleanliness of the room was great. We had a kingsize bed with the couch, chairs, a refrigerator with 2 waters, and three windows that opened to the front of the Mont. We were provided with a fan and there was tons of storage space (more than we needed for one night stay). The reason for less than a 5 star is due to a few reasons. One, we did not receive enough toilet paper. They did not start us out with a new roll and only had a small bit on the roll from previous guests. The general cleanliness outside of the room was not great. The breakfast area was a bit gross. The wall next to our table had something spilled all over it which looked to be an older spill that was now sticky. The general free breakfast buffet area was a disaster when we arrived for breakfast with our stay and there were no scrambled eggs left to eat (btw, this is not the same as their main restaurant). The part that bothered me the most was that their water glasses smelled like fish water which made the whole breakfast not enjoyable.

We had a clean room with comfortable beds and a surprisingly large bathroom. Lying in bed, we could see the spire of the Abbey! Check-in before the walkway was smooth, and they allowed us in about an hour early. We also took the option to pay additionally for late checkout. There was coffee and tea in the room for morning and ample extra bedding and pillows. The staff was extremely helpful and kind during both checkin and checkout.

A very lovely hotel in the very heart of the walled city on the edge of one of the main squares; a hub for eating, drinking and people watching. The rooms vary a little and we fortuitously ended up with a room on a corner of the square and building, which had two balconies!! Beautiful. We ate good food in the their main restaurant on the square. Very peaceful and engaging. The breakfast was a little disappointing; over priced for the range offered, but overall it was an excellent place to stay. St.Malo Is a delightful place to wander and ‘soak up’.
